Power slide show viewing with older versions of PP

[Tafia]

Anyone know why folks are unable to view a Powerpoint 2003 slide show using an older version of PowerPoint?

We have tried saving the slide show as an older version but then we lose the abilty to password protect it to prevent interference with the slides.

This query relates to the sending of the show to others to view on their PC.

Cheers

So you have PowerPoint 2000 (for example) and you want to view a PowerPoint 2003 presentation?

Its because the coding format of 2003 (extended through various means inside the file) didnt exist in 2000.

Why not download the PP2003 viewer?

Or, if you have Adobe Acrobat convert the .ppt and save the file as a .pdf using the password-protected security option. This is OK for slides that don't contain any animations, since these are effectively flattened during the .pdf creation. Sending as a .pdf also greatly reduces the filesize.
