I’ve been given two cassette tapes by my grandfather who wishes them to be transferred on to CD.

Can i just take them in to Boots? (Id feel better about actually going into a high street shop than posting (and potentially losing his tapes) to an internet company.

can't you do it yourself?

given the low quality of cassettes anyway you don't need to worry about non hi-fi sound cards or anything.

Just use a decent tape deck, aux out phonos to line in of sound card. Use Audacity (free download) to record after making sure the levels are high enough but not too high to distort. Then burn to a CD. Job done.
