Very interesting,i didnt realise it was surrounded by all the troubles of Northern Ireland plus the deaths whilst building it.
I also didnt realise 1 of the funnels was ornamental

Yet another slant on the Titanic story. Thoughly enjoyed the program and was so glad we didn't have to endure yet another sinking scene.

I bet the apprentice that got a good kicking with his Dad looked back and thanked his lucky stars.

Eye halve a spelling chequer;
It came with my pea sea.
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye can knot sea.

Eye strike a key and type a whirred
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong or write.
It shows me strait a weigh.

As soon as a mist ache is maid,

An dye can put the era rite.

Its letter perfect awl the weigh;

The space belongs after the comma and the "i" should be capitalised.

All sentences should end with a full stop.

To errrrrrrrrr is human, to forgive divine.

I wasn't belittling anyone, especially ZR1cliff who deserves much respect for helping to get the "Scale Models" forum off the ground.

It's just me and my campaign for the retention of the "English" spelling of English.

Do you realise you have made an ethnocentrist, and quite possibly racist, statement there! I hope for all our sakes that Tallbloke doesn't see it or we're doomed.

funny we were talking about the titanic the other day in the office and someone mentioned a conspiracy theory - i didn't know there was one for the titanic but I found this

www.titanic-titanic.com/conspiracy%20theory.shtml

don't laugh but some plasterer from Oxford researched and wrote about it.

in summary, the ship that sank was "in fact" the Olympic, the sister ship of the titanic after it had had an accident with a navy ship and the investigation held by the navy blamed the white star line. therefore WSL couldn't claim on insurance and then they "changed" the titanic to the olympic which sailed for 25 years.

the ship that sank was the old Olympic made to look like a different ship through repairs in dry dock.

it's an interesting theory but the alleged cock-ups surrounding teh "rescue" etc make it seem too far fetched, but in principle I guess it might have worked ?

You could just imagine it...."Erm Captain Smith you couldnt just switch boats at midnight ,could you old chap"

I think Captain Smith was the skipper on the Olympic when she had the collision.
