I am thinking of going to Nurburg for the Mon/Tues/Weds before traveling to LM. Aiming to get to LM on Thurs.

Any advice, tips or previous threads you peps could recommend?

If you are planning to camp at Le Mans and are not joining a group you might want ti try to get a camping Houx ticket so that you have a pitch waiting for you. The other sites are pretty stuffed by the Thursday.

Sounds like a fun plan though. Isn't the Nurburg. 24 on the same weekend as Le Mans?

There is a group I'll be meeting up with in the Houx annex. They travel down on the tuesday in a van to set up camp.

I've no idea if the Nurburg 24 is the same w/e as LM. I fancied driving the ring a few times!!

Were you planning on camping at the Ring? I know the region pretty well, so if you have any specific questions, just ask and I'll try to answer them.

A b&b just outside Nurburg has been recommended to me and I was going to try there first. Although I am camping at LM I'd prefer to stay in a hotel at Nurburg.

If you are looking for a hotel room, you better start soon. Things will fill up fast, although they might have more vacancies because you're going the days before the actual race. There are a lot of little towns around Nurburg where you should be able to find a room.

I've a tip... I do hope you're planning to spectate rather than drive? The Nurburg 24hrs is on the same weekend and is generally not open to the public on the days around it.

Should you not know, the Northern Loop of the Nurburgring is normally only available to races, car manufacturers or dedicated track days (who'll hire the whole lot). SOMETIMES its opened for Tourist Drives (TouristFahren), where anyone in a road legal car can drive round for 15 Euros.

You'll find the Tourist drive opening times on www.nurburgring.de, but they're not yet published for 2006. Do check before you set off!

PS. Great place!! Even if you don't drive round yourself www.pikeynet.com/05/07/08/nurburg.htm
