Hi all,

Hope you all had a great christmas. I know I did, well, apart from a problem with my Canon EFS 17-85mm. It's stopped auto focusing, it just hunts for a while then gives-up. It will only auto-focus at 17mm anything else and it fails. I know it's not a problem with the camera (EOS 20D) as it still works with my other lens. Any ideas?

My initial thoughts would be the chip in the lens....maybe worth popping along to someone like Jessops to do a back-to-back with a shop model?

I know people like Sigma are very good about fixing chips & re-chipping in their lenses, not sure about Canon (I'm a Nikon user)

It ran out on the 20th of December...I take it that it's not a known / common problem them?

Doubt you'll have a problem if you send it asap. From previous experience, though not with photo equipment, manufacturers usually give up to a months leeway on warranties.

Good luck!
