I can't believe the incompetence of these idiots.

They keep writing to us to tell us that our Sky boxes are not connected to the same phone line.
They are, are they are both set up to dial 1470 when calling in to prove that they are on the same line.
They now want to charge us for two seperate subscriptions.

I've spent over an hour today on their 0870 "support" line today to try and get it sorted out.

We have no alternative to Sky as there is no cable or Freeview in our area.

Each time I call, they refuse to let me speak to whoever is in charge, as they do not speak to members of the public!

I am at a loss as to what to do now, as cancelling our subscription will leave us with no TV at all as we don't have a terrestrial aerial (though we can get one put in in the new year, we still won't get Freeview due to our location)

Anybody got any ideas as to how to get them to sort this out?

Write to them.

I had a farcical episode with Sky earlier this year, won't go in to details as it's a bit long, but letters/emails to customer services got a result in the end.

The address is listed on the website under 'Contact' I believe.

We had something similar a while ago where I used to live and I think in the end we asked them to send out an engineer who could check the installation - IIRC I think we had to agree that if we were wrong we would pay the charge (£60???) but as we knew damn well that the box was plugged in we knew that we were on a winner! The engineer turned up confirmed it was all OK and that seemed to satisfy them!

Don't forget to get them to agree to pay you £60 for your time if the engineer finds you are right

Ring them up and tell them you are cancelling your subscription. You will then be put through to a special department who offer you freebies to stay. They might also sort out your problem.

I did this a few years ago on the same advice. The bloke on the phone just said "OK, done". Bugger.

If you need to call them again, dial 0800 7316965 and press option 2 for customer services - saves you paying them to be on hold!

My Sky isn't working today - the snow stops the receiver. Doh. Anyway it appears to be melting now so I'll be able to chill in front of the box tonight.
