Boxster airbags
Discussion
Does anyone know how to disable the passenger airbag on a boxster (new baby and all that), or will I have to resort to some overpriced "porsche child safety management system".
I am replacing my boxster next april, can I just order it "delete passenger airbag" will this bugger up the residual value in 2 or 3 years.

I'll look in the manual for you and post back later. I *think* there's a lead that comes out of the Porsche Child Seat which plugs into something to switch off the airbag.
If you've got a young 'un shouldn't you be considering a 996 - for the rear seats? Just a thought...
I know I wouldn't buy a car without the safety systems that should come as standard.....I wouldn't consider deleting the airbag even if Porsche would do it if I were you. Why not just give in and buy their seat. In the scheme of things it can't be that much money?

Thanks,
996 is out of my budget, anyway the back seats look too small to fit a rear facing baby seat in.
I agree buying a porsche seat is an option, but I already have a perfectly good seat (used in another car) with a clip in/out action that also fits a buggy, I dont really want another seat cluttering the flat up. I'll probably only use it once a fortnight anyway.
It would be easier I had a key slot to disable the airbag, Ive seen this on some cars, or has it been made illegal.
I wonder if I could avoid buying the seat, but just get a porsce dealer / specialist to fit the buckle thing so I could disable the airbag whenever I wish. Anyone know how much the seat / fitting cost, can I get the buckle thing fitted when I get a new car in April without buying the seat, I can't find pricing on the porsche web site, or in my options list

Marky, ask the folks on Porsche Pete's Boxter Board - www.986board.com/board/986board.htm - someone is bound to know.
Cheers.
