Darren I have fitted a standard Momo wooden wheel to my 400 simply bolts on - just need small allen key to fit the 6 countersunk machine screws that attach it to the boss.

Mine doesn't look quite as swish as that, but I may try my luck on fleabay if that's the sort of money they can fetch. I got it wrong however, mine isn't a momo, it's a Mountney.

Just be careful that you got the correct mounting boss. For instance, Jeff Morgan has a later model 'Personal' make boss with different mounting hole positions to my 'Momo' one. Look out for the orientation of the mounting holes in the wheel before buying.

The standard later wedge wheel was the Momo coarse leather jobbie(?) with the mounting holes at the 12 o'clock position and not the '10 to 2' positions of the Personal wheels as used on the Chimps and Griffs etc.

I have a wooden wheel and am gonna change it for a black leather one. I find that the wooden one causes my hands grief on long trips - perhaps I am gripping it too tight, it is a 450 after all!

Surely you could just take the boss off the column and rotate it x degrees...?

Gandalf, I remember yours from Meriden and I note your screw holes are at 12 oclock but wedgie could be right you could just move the boss round a bit, did you have to do that with yours ? and didnt it come from a boat ? Looks great thats the look I want where did you get it ?

Did`nt move anything. Simply undid the countersunk machine screws - removed black leather jobbie - stuck wooden wheel in same plce and refitted the screws - jobs a gud`un!

The wheel was one we had in stock at our chandlery, and although we dont carry this one as a standard item we can still get em, may take a few weeks though - but as far as I am aware the automotive version is identical it just doe`snt say Momo Marine on it.

Spoken to Momo and no problem obtaining the wheel retail price is currently £85.00 + VAT

oh delivery is around 7 - 14 working days.

Blaine is it in good nick ? If so when you whip it off give us a shout and Ill gather some beer tokens together I have a very low use black leather job if thats what your looking for.

If you want to rotate the wheel there is another option - take the steering column out of the spline and turn it how you like it. I prefer the wheel a little lower on the RHS for 'armchair' one-handed steering on a long cruise.

I am not sure about rotating the boss.....what about the lugs for the indicator cancelling??
