This is getting beyond belief and I for one am going to start driving at between 10 - 20 mph in 30 mph limits. I'm becoming a seriously dangerous driver because I'm forever taking my eyes off the road to check I'm not exceeding the 30 mph limit ....... I joke not that I nearly had a prang for the above reason yesterday.

This evenings Leicester Mercury front page headline reports that one driver is now caught speeding in Leicester every 8 minutes. A total of 6,000 were caught last month and a total of 20,000 since April - total stolen by Mr is £1.2M.

There are so many traffic signs, cameras, rules, rules, rules on the roads that I may well need to stop in the middle of the road as well to take it all in!!

I sympathise entirely with you.
I just followed one of these "safer" drivers doing 20 in the 30 zone...what a joke.
Car was overloaded, no indicators...last of the late and no brakers...its a nightmare.
Think ill get some wonga together and leave this dumpstation behind.

know what you mean. I noticed that when i drive across the dragons teeth i spend more time watching my speedo than the road. so if a child runs out across the teeth I have a feeling that the child is in trouble :/

still, should shut up those whingers who go on about speed kills. or something.

Well he should slow down then

Sorry couldn't resist it. I'm also in Leicester and its pretty bad. Signs absolutely everywhere due to them having a "safety van" which moves about. I don't get the Mercury (far too biased I feel) the statistics were probably given a positive spin (ie look we're stopping so many accidents)

The other problem with Leicester is that there are a lot of stupid limits. Eg ring road 40mph dual carriageways with concrete walls on both sides, then they let it become 50mph (gee thanks) even though its obvious this could be National limit (70mph) without a problem. Also the local cop-shop is handy so they can pop back for a tea break. With the use of the mobile stuff, there are no nice yellow boxes around to help you spot them.

I'm sure its true of other cities but Leicester is certainly taking the pee.
