996turbo or F430?
Discussion
People on this forum are going to be advising to keep the 996, it is probably worth talking ot he boys on www.fcars.co.uk/ to get their take on F430 ownership - this is the largest F-car community in the UK and there are a few F430 owners on there.
Assuming that you are not going to be concerned at the potential extra cost that the F430 will have associated with keeping it on the road...
Then F430 every time if it is a Weekend Toy, just that bit more special than a 996 Turbo... not sure if it is a more capable car... but is certainly more desirable to me.

keep the 996TT for now...
The 430 is a HUGELY overrated driving experience much like the 360 was when that was first released. If you want a weekend toy buy a Challenge Stradale.
May I politely enquire how you justify your sweeping comments please,,,?
Sorry, yes - the comment IS quite devisive (sp?)
On an absolute scale the 360 IS a great car but compared to a 355 it's NOT.
My primary criticisms - as standard, it understeers badly at first with near instantaneous lift-off oversteer when you try to to get the nose to tuck back in. An overdependence on aerodynamic grip has made it quite critical on the limit at high speed. It's a big car (unlike the F355), it sounds nasty (unless you Tubi) and although a great looking car it's not a great looking Ferrari. The engine is frantic at high rpm but STILL lacks torque...
The F355 was more involving, a truly stunning looking car with better handling balance and even without Tubi was fab sounding. From a capability point of view the 360 is comprehensively beaten by the 996TT but the Porsche is nowhere near as special - point taken.....
Unless you tweak it, after you get over the sound and crazy revvy engine it's not as capable perhaps as you want it to be.
The 430 is more of the 360. The engine is straight out of a 4200GT with a few tweaks. But now it's lost that racery F1 feel... they've had to do it to get torque. The styling is largely 360 with Enzo rear lamps and a new front bumper. It's confused and fussy - it sits too high and looks gawkey - most enthusiast owners are lowering the car to make it looks sexier. The exhaust is out of a 360 CS...a really deep blowing sound.. what happened to the F1 howl of the F355?? Loud though which is nice. The interior is confused (especially with carbon pack) and the handling is still flawed. Even more dependence on aero-grip is not a good thing for getting a car to handle progressivel. I conceed there's more grip at the front but the e-diff is not right. It transmits too much power to inside rear wheel - power oversteer is possible but on-limit throttle adjustability is gone - they call it a performance device then why has it been binned for the 430 Challenge Race car?? The steering still has awesome turn but like the 360 it doesn't tell you enough. The F1 gearbox is the best I've ever experienced... It fast yes but it's not £140K fast!
In sum: like the 360 the journos will come back to the 430 in a few years time and realise that once you get over the noise and the F1 box that the 430 isn't really all that
a) satisfying (like a F355)
b) capable (like a 996TT).
By then we'll have a lightweight 430 CS type car so it wont matter.
All in my very useless/pointless/rubbish opinion.
There is NO qestion that the 430 is an awesome car, and a significantly better driving and ownership proposition than 996 turbo (or any Lambo!) and a wholly different (looks aside) car to the 360 (whether Stradale or not)> Build quality surpasses anything that has ever come out of Modena. Just do it!

why not think about a Ruf Turbo R - if you can find one.

Bet I have posted that link about 6 times now, is there something up with the car? A fellow on here went to look at it a while ago IIRC - never saw anymore posts about it.
