I can't vouch for the results/legality of this raffle, but this is what I found

Unless i am mistaken, the ferrari competition lets you buy a new 355 for 60k

Sounds fair to me!

You are mistaken - it works out to be £75000 - still fairly reasonable though!

I never was good at maths on a Sunday morning.

having said that, I could raffle the 360 Spider (for sale on Pistonheads). Brand new, 78 miles on clock.

1000 tickets at £120 seems fair.
or maybe £1200 100 tickets. Great odds.

Anyone wanna ticket

BB - this is not a raffle, it's a spot-the-ball. To me there's less chance of "luck" and there's aways somebody (maybe not a real person) who gets just that bit closer.

Mr. Pesimistic.

there was a similar thing at Gatwick when I was there last month - it seems to be a stand that has been there some time as it showed previous winners. Last month there was an M3 (tickets about £45) and a Fezza 360 (IIRC tickets £120)

IMHO i think its a bit wrong - if someone can afford to "throw away" £120 on a 1 in 2300 chance of winning (it was something nlike that) then they should be able to afford to buy a 360 for £115k. It just seemed to encourage those without big money to part with £120.

The important thing is the odds. How do the odds compare to the lottery? There, the stake is small, the (potential) prize is high - but there are milions of entrants.

You'd be mad not to pay £120 for a chance to win a Ferrari if there were only 2 entrants, or 10 - even 100 entrants makes good statistical sense - but not 1,000,000! Also, for these people to make a profit, they must sell more tickets than the car cost them - so you are really betting 'uphill'.

Guys,
Just to let you know, greed has got the better of me and I have decided to have a flutter on the TVR Tuscan. Looking at the two site you've provided, it seems that the www.letitbeme.com draw of £40 with only 1250 tickets seems a pretty good gamble to me. The other sites odds were over 2000 to 1.

It probably will be a waste of £40, but what if it isn't....I'll be laughing all the way to my first TVR track day!

I drive a Vauxhall Vectra at the moment and spend nearly £40 on a tank of petrol so I don't think I'll lose my house over £40.

Gotta be worth a go. Will let you know if I win.

Fingers crossed.

NICE EH

If you read the small print, all vehicles are second hand, or quality pre-owned as they put it.

What would an accident repaired Tuscan with 80k on it be worth?

Hmmm. Didn't notice that! Surely they're not gonna give away "dodgy" cars as they'd end up in court getting their arses sued!

Oh well, they're aren't that many "high mileage" Tuscans out there and the cheapest are stil worth approx £30K even for the oldest ones.

I can put up with a 1999 Tuscan on my drive!

It does say 12 months MOT if where required though (I assume that means if over 3 years old), so they can't be that bad!

If someone's getting 1250 x £40 = £50,000 for a car that might be worth 'only' £30,000, that's a great scheme. You get the car of your dreams for £40, they get £20,000 profit. Better still, win the car of your dreams for £40, raffle it and make *£49,960* profit...

Trouble is, if it's that simple, why isn't everyone doing it??? My amber warning light is glowing...

It's not a raffle! - not the one I looked at. Anyway, it doesn't cost zilch to offer the cars. Rent at the airport sites, admin, tickets, sales etc. And time.

A gypsy told me a while back that I'll never win anything substantial - I have to earn it!!!

So my 120 £1000 tickets for the "new" 360 seems like a bargain.

I still cant believe the thing hasnt sold!!! I'd alsmost be happy giving it away (as long as the tickets were all sold!)

Has anyone else bought a ticket yet?

The missus wants me to buy a ticket for the plasma TV as well (only a tenner), not so sure if I should with all the doubts in here?
