Ozzy HT lead prices!

Hi all,

think yourself lucky, went down to the Land Rover dealer in Adelaide(South Australia)to buy a few parts for the Griffith. Dizzy cap 76 dollars (30 quid), rotor arm 74 dollar(30 quid). Asked for a set of HT leads, was told they only sell them individually beacause they are expensive. They were'nt kidding 134 dollars (55 quid) for 1 lead - no its not a typo, 134 dollars, if that was the average price that would be over 1200 dollars for a full set - 502 quid!!!!!!!! Left without buying anything and in a daze. Looks like the old man will sending over some more parts over from the UK shortly.

Have you asked Tim at ACT products if he can post them out to you?

Sounds like your getting ripped there mate,here in NZ I can get most parts far cheaper than in the UK.
Let me know if you ever need anything urgently,I have most parts here.

Thats just bldy silly prices.The likes of V8Developments will send them out to you for normal money-a fraction of those prices.I really cant understand the HT lead price especially.cant you get some made up over there?HT leads are HT leads pretty much,theres only a few different types of actual lead,you just need them made to length with the right end caps.Over here the genuine Rangerover/Landrover Items cost £30-35 pound per set from memory.

Here's a thought for you then - buy them cheap through ACT (or your supplier of choice) and sell them onto the RR customers at half the asking price of the dealer. Only need to sell a few sets to cover the cost of buying a new car and getting it imported!

That's it, after been down under on holiday, and bloody nice it was, I have seen the light. I'm going to start a car parts firm down under, guaranteed to make shedloads of cash.

I popped into 'Super Cheap Auto' when on holiday in Aus last year (oh - the year before last) and found RR spares to be surprisingly expensive - but not as expensive as you! I was surprised given the country's love of V8s.

I have found that car parts and consumables are generally similar in price to the UK for Fords and Holdens.(I can get 5L mobil 1 for about 20 quid.) I guess foreign built motas attract a premium. Luckily petrol is dirt cheap and insurance is also significantly cheaper. Where else can a teenager legally get behind the wheel of V8's, WRX's, 200 SX's and drive them on the roads for about 100 or so quid rego/third party insurance? And if you head up to the Northern Territory - no speed limits. After 2 hours at 140 mph anything else is pedestrian - believe me.
