First lesson will be about the basics (Likely to have changed since I did my test 5 and 1/2 years ago). Basic safety checks on the cars, MSM.
Have a read up on the highway code before you go to the lesson.
Read up about the checks you need to do on the car even before you turn the key. (Try a BSM learn to drive type book).
Above all enjoy yourself!

Of those, Clio or 206 would have to be pick of the bunch, imho.
Good luck with your first lesson. Do your best not to get worked up about anything, and ignore the t
ts that see an L-plate as an invitation to drive you off the road. Get something older so that the small engine will have a better turn of speed!
How about a nice early 90s French supermini - Pug 106 or Mk.1 Clio.
Mini?
Do a "docevi1" and get an old kit car?
Classic of some description (Hillman Imp) - learn to drive and learn to wrench at the same time (but don't smash it up!)

Buy something reliable (particularly engine/transmission which can take quite a beating from learner drivers). Toyota Starlet, Corolla or Yaris (Depending on your initial car budget) would probably be my choice, not because they are as “fun” as the French superminis but parts will be cheaper and they will probably go further per dollar.

As a first lesson - probly be driven by the instructor somewhere v. quiet for you to learn to find the bite point on the clutch/steering... all the very basics - push/pull steering (the never crossing the 12/6 position with your hands.
when i had mine (ooo 7 odd years ago) first thing before i started the engine was she when through all the controls, made sure i knew where all the gears where... having me select gears without looking - daft i know, but hey, helps relax you.
