sports exhaust and insurance
Discussion
Hi,
Priv. put a ~20% loading for the 4L RR and the Smolenski/TVR Power exhaust.
This was based on the power being increased from the 350bhp to 406bhp so falling into the 12% to 20% band if I remember.
I seem to remember I read elsewhere on here that they did a ~£70 increase in premium with someone else for having a Sports exhaust.

The additional premium for mine was for for the engine change - going from a normal 3.6 to the 4L Red Rose - plus a performance exhaust. It was banded into the power increase of 11-20%.
There was a thread about exhausts here:

Is there really a 56bhp increase just from a sports exhaust !!
Thats quite an acheivement. Are they much louder than the original factory exhausts and do they have a de cat in them?
TVR Power did some exhausts for Smolenski (for his T350) which is basically the same layout as the factory big bore (single box) but with much better looking tail pipes and baffle changes.
Not as loud as the super sports, but, loud enough. Pops and bangs all the way from 3K to 2K with no effort on the over-run with mega resonance driving at 2.5K.
I got the impression from Dom that the de-cat route is not one to go for.
Priv want £78 more for my non-performance enhancing sports exhaust.
They did specifically ask if it was made of stainless steel. I presume this is another excuse to raise the premium as a replacement would cost more then a mild steel one
