996 C4 Cab vibration
Discussion
Have been lucky to buy a 2001 996 C4 Cab.
Got it from a main dealer, in Hatfield.
Now, driving it at 90 to 110, I know it's illegal, but.
There is a vibration, from the front wheels, it feels like the wheels are out of balance, but Hatfield could not find anything, had the wheels balanced by a company that fits lots of high spec alloys, so know its been done.
But its still there, or is it a thing with this model?
Or has it been in a crash?
Or do I have to make sure that the tyre pressures are correct, I have P-Zero's on it.
Anyway please let me know if anyone has come across this before.
Regards
Steve

Welcome to Pistonheads Barfly.
At a guess the problem could be caused by a number of things. I would tackle them in the following order:
1 Obviously getting the tyre pressures correct would be a good place to start!
2 Consider swapping alloys with a similar car. If the problem persists you know it's the vehicle and not the alloys/tyres.
3 The OPC you bought the car from, have they done a full geometry/tracking check?
4 If having checked the wheels and the geometry the problem persists ask you OPC what they are going to try next. At this stage if you feel your OPC are "fobbing" you off, consider contacting Porsche GB at Reading and getting them to check the vehicle. At this stage I'd be getting my "disgust" down in writing to both the OPC principle and Porsche GB asking them how they are going to resolve the issue.
I assume the vehicle is still under warranty, so all the above should be carried out at no cost to youself. If your OPC and Porsche GB at Reading can't solve the problem ask for your money back!

I had a similar problem with my 996 C2. First job was to get the wheels balanced and they were in fact very slightly out. This reduced the vibration a bit.
The main cause turned out to be the fact that one of the tyres had been repaired. I replaced it with a new tyre and the vibration went away.
I only noticed it at about 120 (on the track
