TVR Chim 500 2000 reg not start suggestions please

Can anyone help?

I can get into my car, have checked battery, dash lights etc good, led lights etc say ready to start, fuel pump I can hear I turn the key and absolutely nothing. I took the car for a drive parked it and then nothing at all

Check your earth connections first, especially the strap from battery
to engine or gearbox.

Check the connections on the starter, including the small spade connector on there.

My bet is a low/fd battery...

No it is not the battery as have removed this and put new fully charged battery in it's place same problem. All interior lights work, headlights strong etc. so sure not battery.

Immobiliser problem?

Sounds like an immobiliser problem. I and many others have had the same problem with the factory fit Meta unit. Easiest way to check is to see if you have 12v at the starter solenoid wire when cranking. You can check this either at the starter itself using a voltmeter or in the passenger footwell as the starter wiring goes through there too. You may be able to short the solenoid to crank it over using a screwdriver between the terminals on the starter. Just make sure its not in gear!.

Could be the Hot start problem? You didnt say if you tried to start it immediately after your drive. Try leaving her 10-15 mins, then try. If it starts, I think it's the dreaded hot start problem.

If so, do a search, there are loads of posts about it. There is also a kit from Mod-Wise that fixes it.

Thanks everbody, I got a mallet wacked the starter motor (gently) and she started. Thank you everybody for all your help and advice
