been away in the delights of Norfolk for a holiday away from home for christmas and new year, me and my parents got back today, to be greeted by the entire front living room soaked in water!

5 hours later i am in the top room and all i can hear is the humming from the dehumidifiers.

place is absolutely soaked, apparently its going to take ages for the walls to dry out and all the sofas are soaked, and they cost my parents a fortune.

its good to be back on here anyway, just about managed without the internet and PH but dont think i could have gone much longer.

Happy New Year to all anyway!

yeah, we've had people round all evening taking the carpets and wallpaper out and putting in the fans.

more people are coming round tomorrow to sort out the cellar, everything in there is ruined as well

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

BTW how will dehumidifiers help in this weather? I would have thought you’d be better off with heaters?

I think most of them heat and dehumidify at the same time, at least the ones we had did.

You need both really, heat the place up and dehumidifiers at the same time - they'll pull out tons of water ...

Sorry to hear about this - not nice.

no we left the heating on low. We couldnt work out when it had happened or how the pipe had leaked. there must have been a hell of a lot of water gone into the room because the guy who was stripping it said he hadnt seen moisture readings that high for a long time.

i took a load of pictures and a video of the front room for evidence.

gonna try to ignore the sound of the fans and dehumdifiers now and get some sleep. i'll just think about being in my nice warm clio, instead of in this cold house with nowhere to sit now our living room is destroyed!

at least the place didnt catch fire or collapse

catch you all later

cheers for the support!
