Mine has TSW 'Stealth' which are 5 spoke. Looking through all the recieipts that came with the car it appears they were fitted from new although the only other S I have seenwith these is a V8S.
They look great and are very easy to clean.

Has anyone tried out larger rims 16" or 17" on an S ?

I have heard some of the theory, changes handling harsher ride. I would like to know what actualy happened whe you tried it

Got 16" all round on mine, handling is fine (although the suspension components and geometry are completely non-standard, so not exactly a fair comparision).

Just fitted 16" rear and 15" front Chimera wheels to my black S2. The rears needed spacers for the 225 tyres to clear the suspension and i've set the fronts out to match. The wheelbase now matches the later S4/V8's and with modified suspension the whole car has been transformed. Still getting mixed responses but i am happy with the results.

I have given this matter some thought over the past two years, and having seen some of the modifications undertaken by many other owners, I do not feel that the styling of the S suits anything over 16" in size or anything to fussy. the best example i have seen is Pete Humphries Green V8S which has 16" Chimera wheels all round. The wheels remain true to the TVR marque they are classic, clean spoked and provide just enough stance to make a difference without detracting from the cars overall classic appearance.

225 / something / ZR16 - forget whether the profile is 45 or 50 but it retains the original 1970mm rolling circumference. No photos allowed until I have cleaned the wheels though, no they are not painted anthracite grey!

Here you go...

If you right click on this URL and select Copy Shortcut from the menu, you can then paste the URL into your posting between some pic tags (do a quote on this posting for an example of these tags):

Hope that helps.

If you look at the website feedback forum I posted a FAQ on there a while ago which goes into some detail on posting a picture.

Let me know if you want a copy of it.

Actually - I preferred the old ones!! All IMHO - different strokes . . etc etc. I personally hate the Chimaera style

I hear what you are saying.

The originals are still my favorite but they are begining to show signs of their age. Also being split rims refurbishing them would cost in the region of £250.00 per wheel.

The Chimera wheels were £350.00 for all four.

I am going to keep the originals but only put them on for special events. This should keep them in reasonable condition until i can afford a full refurb.

Meanwhile the new wheels will see me through the winter months (salt) and are ideal for track day use as the wider rears will provide better traction and they will be so much easier to clean!

Got them from a bloke in Manchester. He had just upgraded his Chimera with 17" wheels.

Keep your eyes open, they are out there.
