Are type A approved helmets still okay for use in 2006? I wanted to use a motorbike lid but its european approved which does not appear to be covered in the 2005 blue book, I'm only planning on a couple of hillclimbs and trackdays and cant justify a great deal of expenditure. I can get a type A approved lid for under £50 as bike shops class them as old stock, where as a SA2000 seem to start at £200.

Thanks

yes. i am almost 100% positive that they are eligable. i do not know of any major changes to the blue book this year, particularly note to helmet regs.

i know a few people who use motorsycle lids when sprinting without any problems from scrutineers etc.

You could try to pick up a SA2000 helemt at the autosport show as most are discounted. though its £25 to get in so that might negate any savings!

Type A are legal.
If you were going to go for an SA approved one get SA2005 as SA2000 will cease to be legal in a year or two.
