Potential new BoxterS Owner - Questions

Hi all,
I am thinking of buying a BoxterS alongside my current TVR Cerbera 4.2 as a run-around as the Cerbera is quite simply too impractical as an every day car.
As I am 100% new to Porsche ownership I would be very grateful if you could point out to me what I need to be looking out for when I go on my car hunt. Any upgrades the car should have / mechanical weak-points / age vs mileage ? ...
My budget is up to £25,000

For that money you should be looking at 2002 / 2003 car? MY03 introduced a glass rear screen which makes raising and lowering the roof easier (you don't have to get out of the car to "chop" the plastic rear window to get it to fold properly). Prior cars will be cheaper, later cars will be more.
Options you MUST get:
Heated seats.
Wind deflector.
Nice:
Groovy 18" wheels.
Full leather.
Stereo Upgrade.
Options you don't need:
Hardtop. (Unless you're planning on driving in Snow,Ice and nasty a LOT - then it might be easier to clean - but no warmer.

Oh. RMS is a possible issue - so consider a warranty at £750 from an OPC. If the previous owner is selling to you privately they can transfer the warranty to you. If you buy from an OPC they'll give you one anyway. It includes a year's European roadside assistance and, if you don't want unexpected bills, might well be worth it.

Oil leak problem. I think it stands for Rear Main Seal? (Engineering types please comment!)
If bad its an engine-out job to fix. I have heard of independents fixing it for as little as a few hundred pounds and OPCs charging thousands. Should it occur to *your* car - and it is being looked after by an OPC - you will be glad of a warranty that pays for it.
I've had two - neither being any trouble in this regard.

1st thing to note is it's Boxster, not Boxter.
If your going to use the performance the 3.2 is a fair bit quicker, handles & stops better + has more kit as standard. Otherwise a newer 2.7 may be a better bet.
Heated seats are nice to help enjoy top down motoring when it's cold. Wouldn't recommend spending extra for a hard top myself either.
Don't buy a car with the base 16" wheels (unless you plan to upgrade) as it will be hard to shift.
Prices low now, likely to strenghten slightly come Spring.
