misted dials, how do I clean them?
Discussion
Can you remove the glass/plastic on the dials to clean behind?
The inside of the car got very damp and this caused the dials to mist up while I was driving. The mist has cleared but left a bit of residue behind.
My car tends to do this when the hood is off and I have always put this down to heat soak through the bulkhead.Funnily enough it is always the smaller instruments.Probably something which can be answered by schoolboy physics.

A related question: when my dials mist up I can see fingerprints all over the inside of the speedo. I would like to clean them off if anyone knows how to get behind the glass? (I know they disappear again when the mist has gone)

Has someone been 'clocking' yours then !?!
Funny, that only really occurred to me after my posting! Duh! Thankfully I have a complete history of the car with all receipts since new so I can be pretty sure it hasn't. I can't explain the marks though - in fairness they look like smears more than fingerprints but I reckon they were made by a human hand... (or the goblin that lives behind my dash)

Don't annoy the goblin. It's the only thing holding the frendle pin to the zingzang valve. If you upset the goblin, it'll fall out and the wazzumagig will hit the thingummybob.

And, of course, they are not a standard part but a specially TVR modified, so they aren't all interchangeable even within the same model.......
Unfortunately, even if you take the guages out of the dashboard, you'll find you're holding a sealed unit and there is no way of getting the cover off ... or at least I couldn't find a way of doing it other than with a hacksaw. When I say sealed, it clearly isn't airtight, but you can't open it. Sorry.
