Axle to Speedo Transducer - Anyone ?
Discussion
Hi
Just on the off chance does anyone know of a Griff owner who may have had a the later diff fitted to an early car ?
Mine has a 2002 rear axle and yet runs the earlier dials being a 92 model. I don't want to change the dials over and as such I am in need of getting a transducer (I have been informed) to convert the speedo pick-up signal to match the clock
On the off chance others have already been here, it may save me some hassle
Unlikely but you never know
Any tip/hints appreciated
Cheers

Send the clock to speedy cables, they will put in a calibration board. Then you can set it to the correct speed. It costs about £60 +p&p
Cheers Jonny
Would that be the Speedy Cables in Swansea ?
Will they need the sender and gearbox / final drive /tyre info aswell
Have you had this mod done yourself ?
Will give them a bell tomorrow
Thanks again

Yep, Speedy cables in Swansea.
They shouldn't need the info but if you give them a call then they should tell you. I have had the board fitted to my speedo as it was over reading by quite a margin (when doing 80 on the motorway my speedo thought I was doing 130!) What you need is someone with a GPS and a small electric screwdriver to set it while you drive along.
This is all assuming that the speedo works but reads incorrectly. And what you have done is move the toothed wheel from the prop-shaft to the drive shaft by fitting the later diff.

80 MPH !!! Surely that's above the speed limit ??
I happen to have a GPS think I could even find an electrical screwdriver aswell. So well within my realms of engineering.
Speedo should be working fine, and yes it's purely the pick up point for the sensor that has moved as a result of the new diff, and it would bend the speedo needle if I connected it.
I'll give them a call today and see what they say
Cheers

Steve
Would you happen to know the two numbers concerned for the pick up
I can obviously crawl under the motor to check the new diff but don't know how many pulses the origonal '92 diff had
Do you also know if the wiring the same for both ?
Cheers
Andy
ps Homemade Wilwood brake set up (as per other thread) being fitted tomorrow. Will take some piccy to show the outcome.
