My Norton has just run out, and to be honest I'm not sorry.

What's the best thing to install these days and where to get it/cost?

McAfee is a royal PITA on my laptop, but it came free with it so hey ho!

Thanks all.

AVG

Norton is the AOL of Antivirus, horrid thing.

Mcafee I've never heard a good report about.

Trend is the corporate choice but probably a little bit overkill for a home machine.

Another vote for Antivir. Plus I'd run spyware doctor / adaware / spybot / microsoft antispyware as well.

AVG, Panda and Avast! get good reviews.

McAfee and Norton are bloatware.

I do run Spybot as well.

A lot of these 'packages' from PC World et al are a load of rubbish half the time.

I use AVG on all my non-work PCs.

Agree with the above....avoid Norton/McAfee at all costs!

Another vote Here for AVG, its excellent. I have lost count of the number of times I have been called out to a PC thats 'just gone wrong' only to find the muppet has installed Norton on it. Mind you its easy money - remove Norton, job done :-)
