Auctions,anyone brave enough?

Hello to all
Since i sold my 911 i've been up and down various auctions looking for a nice sensible car to use till summer,i'd almost forgotten what bargins there are to be had,especially boxsters.
04 2.7s under 30thmls for 19k or less
Early 996s for less,mad really!
Anyone out the looking for a cheap porsche,auctions are really the place to be.
For most people auction houses are a scary place,but they really they are a great way to buy a porsche and bag a bargin,just do your homework and you'l be fine.
Me,i'll be buying a new shape golf gt tdi or a facelift audi a4 2.0tdi s-line tommorrow at BCA,whichever comes cheaper.
I was so tempted by a cheap boxster,but after having owned 4!!!

How do you find out when the auctions are on? Is there an on-line link at all? And can you see the sales list beforehand to decide whether to travel?
I bought a car at auction in Australia when we were travelling there - bit of a mad idea, but it suited us fine, and all worked out pretty well... Never done it in the UK, but wouldn't mind giving it a go... Echo the comments about the RMS though - would make you nervous!

yes but surely if you're saving a few 1000 quid at auction, the remote possibility of replacing an RMS at a cost of about 500 quid shouldn't matter should it? Ame I'm missing something here?

I'm still scarred by memories of a 944 Turbo I bought at auction (BCA Blackbushe) many years back when they were still a current model and very expensive. It looked a dream, had all the extras and low mileage (it was 18 months old). In those days you only had one year's warranty. Drove it away and realised gearbox was totally shot. Took the car back and demanded a refund as it has been declared "no faults". Eventually got my money back, but it was a nervous two-week wait.
