Hi...can anyone suggest a company that can help improve the ranking of our website within the major search engines? And any idea as to how much this costs, and how long it takes to see results? Our site is currently appearing on the 20th results page which is of no use at all!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Andy

Google takes a long time and is difficult to frig, as soon as they spot it they close it.

Google also have 85% of the European search market.

MSN you can engineer to get better results on though.

Muncher knows a man who can, worth dropping him an email...

SEO can be a bitch to make work. One of our major competitors went from top 3 for the last 5+ years to page 4 within two days at the latest Google change. totally unexpected. They changed some things and they're back now. It's very random and very few people truely understand it.

You can definitely make your site as Search Engine friendly as possible which is well worth doing.

Sadly the only guaranteed way is to just pay-per-click with google

Anyone who "guarantees" anything about ranking on search engines is lying. There are however a few good rules that will keep your site ranked as high as it deserves. You may also want to try google's AdWords programme. I'm unable to spend too long online until next week, but please drop me a line then via my profile and I'll happily tell you what I know and help you as far as I can.

Ciao

Single biggest thing you can do, is have lots of inbound, preferably one way, links. Other things that are easy to do, and *possibly* effective, such as meta tags etc.

Update the content of your site often, if possible (google likes information) and build pagerank - you need links with high PR to build yours.

And then pray...

google is the hardest to get good rankings, msn though is much easier.

Rico, hope you are well mate; did we win on New Years Eve?

will drop you an email tomorrow from the office.

‘Search engine optimisation’ – “The process of increasing the amount of visitors to a Website while driving targeted traffic to relevant pages from search sites. By optimising the most valuable pages, companies can increase site traffic and Website conversion rates.” (Source: 1to1magazie, April 2005, pg 35)

• Marketleap - www.marketleap.com
• Performics - www.performics.com
• Prime Visibility - www.primevisibility.com
• Web Trends - www.webtrends.com

May be worth checking out for info, not used them myself.

False Seo is not difficult. Its like training to become powerful weight lifter with stamina. If your training program isnt spot on, a great deal of your energies will be wasted. Its possible to achieve almost anything. And a great deal can be done to future proof web sites, although future proofing cant be guaranteed. Tricks and suchlike will surely become ineffectual in time, but a well optimised site with a good internal and external linking structure will stand the test of time.

False. A true statment would be that many companies claim they will achieve rankings, but fail to do so. The market is flooded beyond belief with cowboys.

We guarantee rankings, after researching which strings will bring cilents the most revenue, and when really pushed, offer a double your money back guarantee, or a "pay when we achieve results" policy.

Meta tags have little or no effect, depending on the circumstances. But yes, link building is key - dont forget the importance of internal link building. Its possible to get a PR5 on a site with virtually no external inbound links, but a good internal linking structure.

If you read johnny ihackstuff in any detail you will see the algorithm that Google use.

These days its almost impossible to frig, if you follow Googles rules then you get the ranking you deserve which seems like a fair concept to me.

Its a case of doing what needs to be done to achieve the ranking.

You cant make mistakes, mess it up, find it hard, consider it a lottery, if you know what you do what needs to be done. The only issue is time. Oh, and money

UKBob, you can't guarantee that over which you have no control. Please don't take this the wrong way, but you can't possibly guarantee anything when you are not privvy to Google's algorithms and update schedules, which you are not. It is _impossible_ to guarantee a ranking when you are not in control of the ranking process itself. You can say you guarantee it, but you'd be making a claim you simply couldn't back up in any meaningful way.

True up to a point, but ukbob could be effectively offering a kind of insurance. In other words, he's so confident that he can deliver the goods that he will refund money if he cannot. Some people might call that a guarantee.

A strange looking company. I'm not sure I would want an office fit out contractor looking after my website as well

Our clients only pay when they achieve the guaranteed rankings. Ive not yet had a client not pay

We only guarantee that which we know we can acheive, and we only rank strings which are likely to bring the client the desired amount of business.

Adwords doesn't convey Page Rank though. So don't go mad spending money there expecting your PR to increase as a result; it won't.

That said, it can work very well. I have several projects doing very nicely from it.
