Wife managed to park car over a kerb then when she reversed "crack".

Front apron needs repairing/replacing but when I took it to garage they said that the grill will need to be replaced as well. This is due to a problem with the old apron design and the the new one will not fit the old grill. Any ideas what the problem was or even if there is one

Mercedes have sold 18 SLK55 front bumpers in the UK in the past 12 months, they've also sold 27 front bumper grilles. My systems don't tell me that you have to order a grille with a new bumper, so I'd suggest the grille can't be removed from the old bumper without damaging it excessively.

Thanks for the info. It still makes no sense for the reapair agent to quote me nearly an extra £100 for the grille as a seperate item if it can't be removed from the apron.

This must be a design fault otherwise it would be incorporated into the basic bumper cost and not classed as a seperate item

Did exactly the same 2 weeks ago, but only bent the grill as the apron was pushed up. I have now reclipped the grill but still have a small piece to strighten out...

Otherwise you could have added me to the list
