Have just booked my S2 111S in with Sinclairs to have 1 way sport Nitrons fitted (yay !) and need to check the spec we have landed on against general experience.

To run mainly on track, RE040s in the wet and and A048s in the dry (when I find some cheep 6.5x16 rims);

400/500 sprung
Ride Hieight Front 120
Ride Height Rear 130
Waspy Geo

Does this look good/bad or ugly ?
[cross post from seloc for max response]

Hi, may have a set of wheels and A048s for you, i think my S2111S will be written off and the wheels will not fit exige 240R, let me know.

Stuart, sorry to hear about your car :-( I dont want to "profit" from anothers misfortune, but, if I can help with the replacement by sending some quids your way lets see of we can deal. Your profile doesnt allow email and so drop me a mail via my profile. Cheers HB

Dropping off my car at Sinclaires this Sat for Nitrons ... but its the yota version so 425/550 springs (mines the full fat version with air con, touring pack etc)

I believe that the spec you have posted is the one to go for on the S2 ... and if you want harder springs you can always get them later if you want to ... not that expensive. I've chatted to bogie via seloc and he's got the nitrons ... drop him a line ... he's a really nice chap but he has slightly different springs I think to account for the fact that his S2 is honda'd and s/c

I've modded all my VW's previously and I prefer the firm ride ...so I'm rather looking forward to some twisties when i get the car back ...

Cheers bjc, I'm also dropping my car at Sincs aroubnd 10:30 on Saturday for Nitrons - quick group buy discount opportunity

After another round of chat with Guy at Nitron I established that 325/400 is the best compromise for a great road/track experience and 400/475 is the max absolute and delta the standard valving will cope with. Above that for slicks and race needs customisation.

Since he suggested that he would want to customise the valving to ship 400/500 I ended up with 400/475 as I dont want too many variables in my modification.

So for the record it will be ride hight 120/130 spring 400/475 and a waspy geo starting on RE040s.

Might see you down there m8 - say hullo ... you'll recognise me cos I'll be the extraordinarily good looking chap in reception

Word of warning tho ... I learnt from modding VW's that the modding and tinkering affliction is most detrimental to your wallet and it only gets more and more extreme as time goes by. I know it's too late to change from the dark side myself ... but in a selfless act of humanity ... you've been warned ...

LOL - I know the feeling....spent ££££ on my previous Honda, got the Elise 31/2 years ago and said to the GF "I wont be modding/spending any money on this one - its sorted as standard" ....well that lasted about a month

Thats mee too ... got the Elise cos it was "perfect" (came with larini) in June and didnt want the running cost of A048s on a 135R (yeah, right).

Ooohh but of course I *really* needed some ally shite for the cabin, and naturally the gear linkage needed sorting as it was disappointing. But then the brakes gave up after only 10 laps so pagid and hoses and SRF fluid. Now I'm really pushing into corners and must have a harness to really "feel" the car ... perfect. But wait ! I cant keep up with a well driven 135R through corners so there must be more pleasure to be had with Nitrons (and to give me something else to fiddle with endlessly). Well now, why stop there when I can really do the job right and stick some A048's on when I find some OZ rims ... oh bugger !

Bogie - u are the modding idol - would love to to see your motor at a meet one day

HB - you know that little mantra that repeats itself in your head when you see something you like ... it goes something like "I'd like that XYZ" one minute and before you know it you're trying to mortgage next year's money and the mantra has changed to "I think I'll buy that now ... I NEED it ... I do ... I do ... Muhahahahahaha!"

Beware the dark side ... ...

Totally unnecessary to modify an elise - your priorites are all wrong.....

That being why I am going down to Sinclaires with Hans to pick up my OZ's - latest on a similary long list. Trouble is he will have the suspension on his car and I will have the 048's - though won't be able to use them till the suspension is done.

Oh dear young padawans ... your behaviour suggests strongly that you are now on the slippery slope to be skilled in the dark arts ... it's too late to save you ... I'm sorry I did my best

Hey Boge, come to Simclairs tomorrow at 10:30 so we can bask in the reflected glory of the Elise mod meister and aspire to your levels of consumption , whilst discussing suspension settings at great length, marvel at Shangani's new OZ's, and stuff.

BJC - great to meet you today. Hope we see you at bedford on the 28th trying out those new nitrons. If its dry, my sticky tyres will be there as well. If not just me and my normal tyres.

OZ's, 048's, Larini, harnesses and your journey to the dark side will be complete!

Hmmm, Bogie I'm wondering if you actually live in a HOUSE and eat FOOD or if you survive on a diet of parts that come off your car

Bogie - have you thought about changing the doors - Carbon maybe? Then you can go to Sinclaires, get all the stuff you have taken off your car over the years and assemble a complete second car. What will you need? Chassis and wiring loom is all I suspect.
