Labour and the Tories must be laughing their socks off!

Their policies have always been those of earnest brainwashed teenagers in any case.

The real question though is "is he any good?"
Remember Pitt the yonger? wasn't he in his early twenties when he was Prime Minister?
Age alone does not determine competance. How many computer "wizz kids", of a very similar age to this young politician, trounce far older computer buffs for example?
How old was Kate Bush when she wrote her first songs, amongst them "wuthering heights", about 13 IIRC!
Having said that he does seem a bit young...

In a similar vein.....
...from being mum's mouthpiece to the mouthpiece of a hooded malevolent beast, Oliver Smith rose quickly to power and usurped his peers. Tony Blair said; "We wish him well, he's doing fine work". David Cameron was more restrained, insiders have said that he is shaken by the news that Oliver Smith is to be the new Prime Minister, but he has made a statement wishing Oliver well in his new role.........

There is a reason we expect our politicians to be late twenties and older. Who can you control the lives of other people when you have no experience of life yourself yet?
I am sure there are many teenagers who have the intellectual ability but they do not have the experience. That is why they are so drawn to utopian political visions.

Oliver Smith:...... "sorry blokes I can't help you plan strategy for the coming election tomorrow as I have my Tuba lesson".
Or even, "Your Majesty, thank you for your kind invitation to an evening reception at the Palace, but my Mum has grounded me for not keeping my bedroom tidy."
Ridiculous.
A twelve year old boy, no matter how smart, does not possess the life experience or maturity of judgement to hold such a position.
He is very unlikely to have formed his own opinions to any great extent, and will much more be a product of his parents beliefs. The sentence where his mother says "He is very keen to get rid of Blair and Brown" is most telling.
As for lowering the voting age to 16 - total stupidity. Just think how easily 15 and 16 year olds could be "bought" with irresponsble policies - free ring tones anyone? Legalise raves?
Lib Dem lunacy at it's worst.

I had hoped Cider With Cerbie would be along to support this decision by the lentil munching loonies. I read somewhere that he was a "leading and lifelong Liberal Democrat". Although I am still trying to get my head around the juxtaposition of the words "leading" and "Liberal Democrat". They seem somehow oxymoronic. (As opposed to the party itself, which makes do without the oxy).
I'm looking forward to the Lib Dem's next policy document. I'm expecting to see:
The return of school milk
Extended school holidays
Free skateboards for teenagers
The right to vote at age ten
No tax to be paid until twenty
Minimum pocket money allocation
Freedom to choose own bedtime
Website addresses to be provided by school with all coursework and homework assignments
GCSE's to be assessed entirely on coursework

I haven't seen Cider with Cerbie around for months
I've been less lucky than you then.

I wonder if his parents would have given him all this support if he was a Tory or New Labour supporter? When you look at his background, I suspect that he is just as conditioned as the 'happy clappy' children that are involved in all the local church activities for no other reason than its their parents lifestyle and therefore all they know.
I may be wrong though, he may be his own man
Good luck to the chap, whatever his politics are.
I always used to think that if anything was going to convert the world to socialism, it was young conservatives
