Sorry to start yet another beginners thread...

Was just wondering if anyone could recommend firstly, somewhere to do a DAS course in the Oxford area, secondly somewhere to buy the gear around here and finally any places to look for a 2k ish 400 or 600 for a first bike (assuming that as I know nothing when it comes to bikes, buying from a dealer would be safer than privately)?

Many thanks.

Bikewise in Abingdon are very good and should be able to point you in the direction of the nearest DAS place. They used to do a lot of grey 400's. I haven't been in there for a while so things might have changed a bit. John the owner is a great bloke who used to do star rider so he may still be instructing.
Note I am biased as they are mates but I've never heard a bad word about them.
As an aside I would stay well away form the Honda shop by Tescos just off the A34. The owner is in my opinion a complete git and I wouldn't trust him to sell me a washer.

Thanks Duncan. I shall pop over to Abingdon some time and have a chat with them.

If you ever get down to Foxs Diner there are a load of independent instructors advertising there. There are also quite a few bikes on a weekend or monday night in summer.

On Yer Bike, on the Aylesbury Road is not too far from you. They have a good range of bikes for you to sit on and a good selection of quality (read expensive) gear for sale.

Worth a nose about, just to sit on some shiny bikes.
