Exclusive: 911 GT3 spyshotted

PH grabs Porsche's latest street-legal racer

The latest version of Porsche's street-legal racecar is very close to finished, if the spyshots PistonHeads has exclusively acquired are anything to go by.

The existing 996 GT3's 3.6-litre engine kicks out 381bhp and 284lb-ft of torque, and an official zero to 60mph time of 4.5 seconds. And the 996's price tag of £72,750 makes it look like good value too -- the 997 is unlikely to be that different.

So what's the 997 got to offer? The 997 engine is now out to 3.8-litres and you can expect power to be up by at least 20bhp. Huugging the road, the GT3's low spoiler and hopefully lighter weight than the standard 997 should mean tauter handling on the limit -- and it's likely to be a tad noisier.

One source reckoned that a set of three-piece wheels will replace those on the version we spotted. You won't want to kerb those...

I want his job. I want to look that bored as I drive along in a car that looks that cool. What is it about black cars?

Looks great! SHame you can't opt out of the side intakes on the new Turbo because I think it would look much better in the body of this GT3.

The seats in the photo look very tasty

Front looks fussy seems to be a common theme...but i must say, black with black wheels makes for a monster looking car...

Oh dear, I can't stop coming back and looking at it. Just like the first GT3s, it seems the aerokit always looks better when the suspension is as low as it goes. And the wider 4WD hips help so much. I feel about 14 again...

No Porsche badge on the front. That should fool people into thinking it's a VW Beetle.

A nice return to the folded over spoiler, looks really good!

So 400bhp then... should be nippy.

Agree with Silver 993TT about the sides too. Prefer the smooth 996 vent look, or none at all, rather than that "gash" in the 997 Turbo...

Well, I actually perfer the integral 993 Turbo S scoops if there were to be any. I don't like the "aftermarket" look of the 996 turbo scoops. The 997 Turbo scoops are an improvement over the 996 but still look like an add-on.

The seats look like the ones in the Carrera GT.... calming down a little, I wonder if there will be a significant improvement over the 996 GT3RS?

Even though the GT3's front could have less intakes to make it cleaner, it makes the 997 TT's design look a pile of dog's poo.

GT3 looks incredibly mean in black and black wheels with yellow calipers. I want!!!
