They'll be selling like hot cakes then. It costs getting on for that amount to buy a used pair and refurb them.

The only thing that stopped me going this route was the disclaimer on the advert. I haven't checked it out with my insurance company but I doubt they’d like the wording. I think this is a great quality piece of kit at a very reasonable price but I’m a bit super cautious when it comes to declaring things for the insurance. I have still yet to decide how to upgrade my brakes from the crap ‘tina stuff, perhaps when the garage is built later this year I’ll revisit this.
I’d like to support companies innovating upgrades to support our beloved Wedges but if they wish to disclaim their public liability away then they can not be surprised if they only sell in numbers for competition use only.

All braided brake hoses do the same .. I think some calipers say this because they don't have dust seals around the piston .. then again the princess caliper never did either.. perhaps it's just to discourage the escort owners who think they will have another set in a few years time because of some corrosion.

I told my insco I'd upgraded the front brakes to alloy 4 pots and that 4 potters with the same piston area were fitted as standard to later wedges. NO PROBLEM they said.

But I take it you didn't tell them about the disclamer? I'd be worried if there was a claim and the insco wanted an out. In reality the brakes are better than standard so there should be no problem but if that is the argument then why the disclamer?

Keri covering his arse. Not a problem though. You could buy them from him at BBWF and I doubt he'd force you to read a disclaimer

Sorry to 'dip my fly in your ointment' rev,but the princess calipers ARE dust sealed..i know cos my '88 390 has the original TVR modded AP/Lockheed princess/ambassador calipers fitted with two spacer plates to fit around the AP 270 x 28mm thick discs on aluminium bells.
Just a word of warning guys, I spoke to the guys from Works motorsport at the wedge fest, and Me and GSX600 had a wheel off of his wedge to show the brakes fitted to ours. The guy from 'Works' took loads of measurements and had never seen this set up at the time.
This kit did not have the girth(ooerr missus!) to fit around my particular setup,so dependent on what was in the TVR factory parts bin at the time , depends on whetherthis kit will fit...

I've got these brakes fitted to my 450 SEAC (1988 build) - are they what your describing?

Can you still get replacement discs?

Yup! Thats the same setup...
I did spend some time on the phone to a guy at AP and he said the discs were no longer on the shelf, but that it would be possible to make another set from 'blank' rotors, and gave me the number of a company who could do so. IIRC he quoted about £150 for a new pair. am not at home at the mo' but can sort it out for you if you want??

Got that set up on my 88 400 as well. I asked about the works calipers at BBWF and they were not sure if they would fit this type of set up.

Also got some other unsual factory parts such as Poly V drive and a machined alloy steering boss. Glad mine went to the parts bin before these ran out!

Back on line at last. Still cannot sign on at wedgepages but can at pistonheads.
Steve thanks for the posting you did on my behalf.
I have taken the plunge and bought calipers and spacers from your contact.
Partco have some vented granada discs in for pre 1984 so they should be the right diameter I am collecting them tomorrow so its fingers crossed, though the guy seemed confident on the phone. Discs are being sent down from the Durham branch so if anybody needs any try asking nicely at your local branch there may be others about. Will post a part number when I have them in my grubby hand and have checked them out.

Andy - actually I agree with you.. they are of the small variety that is around the piston - rather than the large stop everything rubber jobbies that most single piston jobbies have.

The princess design allows the piston to get plenty of crud and corrusion over the years.

I've got princess calipers on my 390. These came with 300mm vented discs and braided hoses. They were a bit of a pain to fit and they were extremely close to the wheel rims. After a bit of adjustment here and there they worked great.
