is it the best stuff ever or all hype.....i mean can you really tell the difference between for example -autoglym resin polish and zymol costing 4 times as much? time for new polish and not sure if im wasting me hard earned money. Cheers guys

I think you can tell the difference, yes - IMHO! The Zymol requires a lot more hard work initially, but it looks so much better on the car - it gives a deeper shine with no residue. And IIRC it lasts a lot longer, so you end up using less Zymol in the long run.

I agree. I haven't used any of the other expensive waxes, but Zumol's reults are much better than the cheaper alternatives. It stays waxed and clean looking for ages.

Oh, and Zymol smells so good you can get hooked on sniffing it, which is a bit embarrassing if your mates find out and start telling everyone down the pub that you're a wax sniffer.

Reading past threads I was put off Zymol 'cos of the price- until I happened across a bottle of their carnuba wax in the local Halfords for only £12.95.
It was the only one there and I snapped it up.
Applied it that Saturday but my hands still smelled of Bounty bars 3 days later!
Totally wonderful stuff though and I reckon I've got enough left for at least another 4 applications (rain still beading off bodywork and that was 4/5 weeks ago). Point I'm making is try it but don't pay over the odds..

I'll second that. Definately a good wax, but there are Carnauba waxes that provide just as good protection and shine for a lot less money, and a lot less work (to apply/remove).

Just one point: Resin Polish is a polish and Zymol Wax is a Wax, they are two different things, for doing two different jobs.

The polish is a polish as the name suggests, and polishes out marks on the car, so it is sleightly abrasive.

The wax is a sealent, that gives shine and protection to the car. I believe the AutoGym equivlent to wax is their High Gloss Finish - which does give give results.

to add to the polish / wax debate. The Halfords Zymol is a polish not the wax. I have used both and if you were impressed with the polish ask Santa for the wax as its another leap forward in finish.

Do a search of previous threads here on PH. Personally I think it is great. A lot easier to clean the bloody tar marks off the car! Would definitely recommend it, and if your car warrants perfect shiny paintwork, then I'd say its worth the expense. But like I said try a search as I think others are getting similar stuff for cheaper from the U.S.?

I must admit I am a fan of AutoGlym, but recetly switched to Meguirs, and just love the sine the cannuba wax imparts to the car, but it takes sooooo, long to do.

I use Zymol on my car and Autoglym on my better halfs VW. Autoglym is good and takes a lot less time than Zymol, however I've been waxing cars for 15 years and nothing I have come across gives the same finish and lasts as long (Its 6 months and 4000 miles since I waxed it and when it rains, the water beads and runs up the bonnet when on the move).

It is very expensive and takes a lot of effort. Zaino is another highly recommended product, however its only available on-line from the US supplier.

Been a brainwashed convert of Zymol now since I won a starter kit on this very site of ours....fabulous stuff.

I agree with sentiments expressed such as SGirls and Sixspeed's in as much as the full monty is a lot of work (basically, every year you have to wash, then use a pre-wax, which is bloody hard work but the paintwork feels super afterwards, then wax. Most of the waxes you apply by hand, which draws interesting looks/comments from your neighbours !

But, the Merc and the Porsche have a couple of layers of wax on them right now, and despite it being on there for a month or two, the water still beads off like it was done yesterday. First class.

Oh, and don't be put off by the price. OK, it's a large initial outlay, but the pots of wax will last you a couple of years.

Any other questions, mail me offline if you want.

Has anyone used the Zymol "Titanium" wax on silver paintwork? Any good? better than the standard wax? worth the extra?

Thinking of taking the plunge with a Titanium starter kit.

Silver Merc, Arctic Porker, use Titanium on both, super, smashing, great. Better than standard ? Well, it DOES prevent stonechips - I phoned Brad and had a long chat to him about the mechanics of it. I sort of understood !! Is it worth the extra ? Yes. It's an investment. Are you planning on keeping the car ? Then do it, man !!

In fact, I'll do you a deal. Come up to me in your glorious 996, and we'll give it a dose of Titanium, the only condition being that you give me a white knuckle ride in this piece of Stuttgart magnificence !!

Sold ? Mail me offline if you want more info, mate

I bought Titanium for my Griff. It is red. But had a go with it on a relative's silver 323CI. The results were amazing! There's always someone out there who prefers a differenct product and that's fine. Whether or not Zymol is the best is one thing, but there's no doubt the results are outstanding and more than meet my expectations.
