Have been reading some threads on tyre wear, some people for eg. doing 80/20 track-road and still getting 4-5,000 miles out of there tyres. Ive done 3 trackdays (300 miles) and 1200 road miles on a new set of continentals and they are shot! rears are like slicks.

If you track/drive hard on brand spanking new road tyres they wear a lot faster than tyres that have had the price rubbed off them. Every mile on the track is 10 on the road so theoretically you've done 4200 miles, still short lived, are they evenly worn or do you have more wear on the inner or outer egdes? If so I'd have a wheel alignment check done because if your geometry is out the next set will just quick.
Yep: Get the geometry done - track use *can* knock the geometry out - especially if you like to use the kerbs.
I use Michelin Pilot Sports tyres - and, despite being expensive, have found they last rather well. I've been getting all the road miles (4-5000pa) and a full track day season (6 or so for me pa) out of 'em. Not bad at all really.
