I know they are mass produced in a big factory at Syston, Leicestershire, and I would hate to think what goes into them but I love Pukka pies, available at every chippy

Had a very nice game pie yesterday, from our local deli'.

My very own seafood pie, as sampled by a few PH'ers, is pretty good too, modesty permitting.

Dunno, but I can safely say that would rate very highly as a 'quality first date experience'

I'm always suspicious when the description is no more specific than "meat."

Here you are, a recipe for the best meat and taty pie bar none.

Boil up the meat in a mix of water, some oxo stck cubes, brown sauce, worcester sauce, tabasco, bay leaf and mixed herbs with sliced onions. When its cooked drain the meat, and save the liquor, put the meat into the tray and tear it up into really small bits, almost like mince, then chill it. It will sort of 'set' into the tray.

Cook the potatoes, but dont overcook them, and scoop onto the top of the meat, thicken the meat cooking liquor and pour a little over the top of the potatoes, cover with a nice thick and very short pastry and egg wash, and bake for about 45 minutes in a fairly slow oven.

Serve with a little of the gravy poured over the pie and well diluted mint sauce on the obligatory mushy peas.

Bloody delicious.

A bit of usless information, Go to a United (Man) match and a pie will cost you £3, yes £3 EACH and there was 67.000 at the Bolton game, just imagine the profit margin.
