Snap! Not sure if mine is the switch yet? I hope so cos I don't fancy taking the door panel off!
Does anyone one know if you can remove the panel with the window down?? The 'Bible' says you can get to the blind nut with the window up, but no suggestions if its stuck down?? I will start at the switch end tonight.. fingers crossed..
Window switch is plain old Vauxhall - Cavalier/Calibra, maybe Astra too.
There's no way you'll get your arm inside the door aperture to release the door card nuts with the glass down (it's hard enough with the glass up!)- but you can get to the motor connectors, so unless it's the motor that's broken, you should as a last resort be able to wire 12v to the motor directly to get it to lift?

On mine it was the connector behind the speaker that need a clean. Take the speaker out and find the wires.
Mine was stuck up!
Mines not usually stuck up! I think it just copped the hump cos I took it out in the rain, so made me get wet aswell..
I'll start at the switch,then move on to what ever wires I can get to behind the speaker
do you know if you can access the wires with the window down? or does anyone know how to get the window up? can I move it by hand?

Tested the switch and there's power to and from it so the problem is in the door somewhere.. just can't get the panel off. the connector doesn't appear to be in reach of the speaker hole either. so what can I do now?

The connector alomst certainly won't be the other side of the glass - use a torch/mirror etc to try and locate it. It might be cable tied out of sight below the motor. Also, inside the car, there's a connector behind the carpet just before the wiring exits the bodywork to go across the door gap into the door, which would be worth checking.
The problematic door trim fastener is the one that holds the card to the door just after the door pull. It is 1 cubit from the leading edge of the door. A cubit was the ancient egyptian measurement from elbow to tip of fingers and all that has to go in through the speaker hole to undo the set screw. Oh, and a spanner (10 mm as I recall) which can be dropped as you struggle to get it round the right way. Never tried it with the glass up. Good Luck.

Too right its problematic and yes I would say TVR did use the cubit as the 'ideal' measurement to make it as tricky as possible.. I started by using the approach that everyone else could get to the connectors via the speaker hole so why couldn't I. I rather ruthlessly pulled quite hard to free the loom. it appears someone before had tie wrapped the loom quite well! I managed to get this loose and get access to the connectors. I checked for power here and all seemed ok. it was then it all burst into life..
I must have disturbed something.. still got he window up then I could get access to the final nut.. What this proves is you can not get the door panel off with the window down.. the only other option was to undo the bolt that clamps the lower edge of the glass. but luckily I didn't need to try this.
