uni businees plan !!
Discussion
consider whether a caravan park/ the one you have in mind has a clientele that will find this useful- is it families with young kids that mostly aren't bothered with wireless access or teenagers on holiday together that will almost expect it. What's the average income of the customers- will have an impact on the % with laptops with wireless i would think.
What are the costs?
Will guaranteeing reliability be a challenge where you plan to do this?
just some things to think on, which you've probably already covered, I'm sure someone will be along with a killer list soon!
i cant be bothered using spelcheker
.
i also know quite a few people who take laptops on holiday.
also wot are people gonna do on a rainy day (apart from go out; even then they might not have anywhere to go).
also thanks about those questions but have already asked those ourselves and our lecturer likes the idea anyway.

No, whilst I agree that there may well be a requirement for some people to have access to the internet whilst at a caravan park, I think for those that need it, data connections via 3G will be the easy way to go within the next year or two. Unlimited data tarifs are already available and prices will drop as the market grows. IMHO.
i dont mean offence to anyone but our group have a talk and realised that we are more likey to appeal to younger people, generally, who are travelling to different sites during their holiday and may wish to keep a website they wish to update.
also we are more keeping in areas were the younger generation are likely to go (eg: newquay, blackpool, etc...).
please remember this is only a business idea for a piece of university coursework so we are not realistically trying to setup this business.

It depends on how much you think it would cost. If the costs are relatively low, it may be viable. However I think the costs of the kit would be too great to convince a lot of park owners to go for it.
If you are setting up wifi there are easier win options.
Pubs, restaurants, bars, trackdays, airports.

They already exist at some camp sites, especially on the Continent. I know of quite a few motorhomers who travel for much of the year and the ability to keep in touch with family members via e-mail is invaluable - not to metion read their favourite web-sites.
And they are often over 60 years of age - so don't think that the Internet is for "youngsters" only.

i know there will be "older" people who would also be interested in our product but our main target group is "youngsters" and if we do get large numbers in other groups we would adjust the marketing accordingly.
what a great read - nothing like someone asking 'what do yuou think' and then not liking the answer!
never ask a question you only want one answer to
i reckon as a Uni busines pla it's ideal. easily segmented target market, simple proposition, simple revenue model..completely scalable etc etc....
as a real way of making money? tc's point is very, very valid. technology based businesses...who use third party technology to make money are highly fraught with the risk of 'it aint the big thing next year'....
the business of 'giving mobile holidaymakers and travellers broadband web connections' is a great one. but you cannot do that. hence in the real world it's risky.
but excellent as a Uni plan IMO
