Best bet for an XBOX 360...?

For someone who's been out of the country for a few months and living in a tent in the desert, where is the best place to get hold of a 360 ?
I have a lot of time off coming my way very soon and intend to spend the bits where my missus isn't around, glued to PGR3 getting my ass whupped on XBOX live! Are there any left available in the uk ?.....as the thought of doing 3 weeks DIY in lieu of some hardcore 360 action is filling me with dread !!

You can get hold of one but more through perseverance than just walking in off the street.
You can't get hold of anything 360 for love nor money either, I tell a lie, money will get it from eBay for you but I would guess you would have needed to be paying no income tax in the desert to afford it all, lol.....
My advice, hunt for a full system over a core one if you want to play live or you will have to buy a memory card, which when you get a hard drive will be surplus to requirements.
Another thing for Live, headsets are rare as hens teeth as well. One workaround for it is to unplug the jack plug from your old Xbox headset and plug it in the new controller. It is quite and you cannot mute your mic, but it's better than nothing.

Keep an eye on www.xbox-deals.co.uk - they track stock for some of the big retailers, with hourly updates. Also, try www.argos.co.uk - they seem to be getting a steady trickle of them in.

nice one....I think I know what I'll be doing with my time off now....either playing or hunting for one of the damn things.......
As for income tax (bleat) every other nationality out here gets their tax back and money on top, as a member of Tony's Armed Forces I am paying full tax, council tax etc and get approx £5 day.....winner! So am not saving up enough to justify a HDTV, unless I go down the old kidney to medical science route

If you want a 360 premium then your best bet is to go to GAME.
each morning the larger stores (or rather, those less remotely situated) get a delivery of 2-3 everyday.
Just call up at 9.00am and ask them to keep you one back...they will. It's not possible to reserve one the day before as the staff have no idea (they allege) what the delivery will consist of.
As an experiment, i called up GAME in the trafford centre (manchester) and also manchester city centre this morning at about 9.15am. Both had 1 premium each left, and were willing to hold it for me until 3.30pm. Both were available to buy alone (£279.99) meaning they werent bundled with tat for £600.00+
Premium packs are available if you look...

Have had the bonus of getting home a week early from the sandpit and apart from the small matter of building my trackday bike (and planning a wedding!), I will be hunting the pesky critters down over the next few days.

got mine friday from game..after giving them a bit of hassle..I preordered it last sept.
Got pgr3, Kong, and Condemned. Running on a pioneer 43xde plasma in HD. Its awesome.
The games are a lot better than I expected. Particularly kong!!!
I especially like the media centre function. Ive got it wirelessly hooked up with my PC and can stream photos and
music easily.
