Carless for the next few days! I will be having withdrawal while the next round of upgrades was installed.
HBaumhardt's shiny blue 111s, my 111s and bjc388's stunning black 111R are now parked in a row at Sinclaires! Roll on the weekend. The money in my account better clear by then or I will be hiding rather than fetching the car on Friday.

All three are getting Nitron suspension. I finally decided not to go for the ohlins for a number of reasons. Sinclaires has a special on the nitrons currently, so there was a £600 difference. The 36mm ohlins have a huge markup and there are suggestions that they may not be all that durable. The 46mm ohlins is a superb bit of kit, but massively complicated to setup - far beyond the casual trackday enthusiast. They also need frequent rebuilds and would be more than double the installed price of the nitrons.
I was interested that Steve Butts who has done everything possible to his car to make it faster around a track, runs nitrons. Indeed at the tuner GP, the 4 fastest elises were on nitrons. I am opting for a standard spring rate 325 front 400 rear to maintain good road manners. Anyway, these together with my god-like skills will of course humble all of you at the BOLOCs airfield day.

Oh I might add that sorting brakes, suspension and tyres is a prelude to a more substantial upgrade. I will keep you posted. Shannon drives the Renault, so that is a no go option.

Well when you don't know the roads etc. I do remember being right with you and Beachbum on zigzag hill. Actually my main problem on the roads is fear of getting nicked. I once met this bloke with 6 points on his licence.... 6 POINTS!

When are you picking up your cars - I'm due to collect Saturday morning again. How about a formation lap when we leave?
I aim to get there early with a screwdriver so I can unbolt that Carbon Seat with harnesses from the reception area ... please keep that bit of cunning mischief under your hats ... Muahahahaha

Ahh good man - I just checked the LOT website.
Will see you there - the nitron lads. Sadly the BOLOCs lads have been most conspicuous by their absence. And I see you are doing the march activity day as well - me too. A good time will be had by all.

I forgot that you were joining the BOLOCs day. Excellent. Apart from me though they are a nasty, inbred, bad mannered and generally unsavoury lot.
What wheels did you use for the 048's, or did you put them on your 111r wheels? If you have them on a second set of wheels, I suggest running standard tyres for the airfield - no point in wearing out your good rubber.

Hey ... just my sort of people ... nice
I've got a set of Exige wheels which I obtained last year but I only just got round to getting them fitted today during an "extended" lunch hour ... ahem!
I actually wanted to get a set of the OZ's which look way cooler but alas wrong offset.
On the subject of style, I've had various sets of BBS crosspoke wheels on my VW's and for many years persevered in keeping them clean but the undeniable benefits of advanced indolence means I much prefer spokes to criss-cross designs (eg exige style) for convenience.
Good point about the tyre bashing on the airfield day ... do you think the wear rate will still be high with 20 odd cars? My current thoughts are that if it's dry on both days then I think I'll play with the 048's (weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) ... if not I'll stick with the RE040's.

I would personally go with the bridgestones for the airfield, wet or dry. We will be doing 3 activities simultaneously. If dry, the wear rate will be really high. You could lose a lot of rubber off the 048's. I would use the 048's for Bedford on the 28th, unless it is p*ssing with rain.
Besides, the slides you get with the bridgestones will be a lot more fun! It will be good training for on the road emergencies.

And that all on your bike
FORCED TO USE A BICYCLE ... By the way, on that Exige Cup 240 that I'm looking for comes with Ohlins, you scare me a bit talking about rebuilds
don't like rebuilds...so those nitrons are reliable? and more easy and just that good...hope it works out for you, gues we'll here that after the 28? have fun, here a pic of the Ohlins as fitted on the Cup I'm looking at, are those the good one's?
maybe difficult to see though.

Which upgrade do each of you plan? Or just random betwen the cars...
I feel tired today..........
Welcome back Benoit
- how are you? Didn't you go away after new year? Skiing iirc? If you did, I hope it was compensation for having to work over the festive season. Old blokes with dicky prostates I presume? BTW - how would you feel about a trip to Abbeville racetrack in the summer?

Thanks Andrew for the nice reply. Was in France with the family (22 people in the same hotel) was quite fun BUt absolutely not car oriented. I think I prononce the Lotus word only twice.... But ski was very good, road very snowy and salty, not a place for the Elise.
I am thinking about my future exige wheels being painted in silver and read a lot about your opinions about ohlins and nitrons. My biased lotus dealer tod me that the nitrons need more rebuild than the ohlins. Finally I may ask him just to change the stuff as the standard exige but I don't know, with the Lotus prices, if it making sense.
I am now member of L-O-T and will certainly go to abbevile and francorchamps. I hope to meet th egroup overthere or I will have to cross the big river. A trip to the 'ring may be a very interesting one but need to be carefull. Someone of my familly having a Dino was there to see people in the armco which seems to be "frequent". Anyway I am really motivated by tracks more than roads.
About my call before vacation, it was not bad Thanks, but I had to go everyday to make the round and sleep with the ringing mobile, ...at least I slept....
