Motorway 'tracking' problem

Hi guys, I have just bought my first TVR, a Chimaera 4.5. Obviously love the car, but find that sometimes, if I'm in the inside lane on the motorway, it will try to 'leap' in and out of the indentations left by all the lorries. Is this pretty normal, or an indication of the tracking being off or worse, a worn steering rack?

The car is a 1997 model and has done around 43K miles.

Any advise much appreciated!

I get it in my Griff. I think it's down to the flat wide tyres gripping literally on one edge as the car finds the sides of the truck tracks. This then 'pulls' the steering.

Sounds like the width between the tyres.

I'll bet if you measure the 'track' or width between say a laguna or some such and the tiv
yours is nearer the 6' of truck axle, creating the ruts in the road

'Tis a problem not experienced by many TVR, or any BMW drivers: it's mainly in lane one!

Same here soon as my old cerbera front tyres were changed to S03 it was crappy,Talk about lane change

My Wedge sometimes does it too on particularly bad roads.
Nothing wrong with pressures or geometry, just wide wheels.

Even my old Rover wouldn't behave on a short stretch of the M1 the other night. The ruts were really bad there though (Nottingham area).
That's when I realised why everyone was hogging the middle lane

About time that bit of road was re-laid.

Mine's allways done it, feels like you've fell in to a "tram line"

Yes I get it on motorways sometimes but recently noticed it around town too. Checked the tyre pressures and they were a little low, once adjusted normal service was resumed.
