Thought I'd share this photo, taken two minutes' cycle up the road. I'm very much a beginner, learning what tricks I can play with the manual mode of my camera:

This one is the best photo of a Ford Focus I've ever taken!

I didn't use computer editing for anything other than cropping the foreground out.

Any constructive criticism? I settled on ISO64, F8, Shutter 6.5 seconds and no manual exposure compensation. I think I achieved the effect I was looking for! The biggest problem I had was keeping the camera still, so I found a fencepost to put the camera on.

I also took this one over the M42:

Boy when they said they designed the new focus to blend in to the background and not stand out they realy meant it!

I wish I could hold a camera that still for that long, even with a fence post to brace on! If you are going to a do a lot of shots like that, a tripod (even a cheap one) would be a good investment.

I have got a tripod, but in a small accident of knocking the tripod over with the camera on it, the threaded hole at the bottom of the camera was stripped. D'oh.

Speaking of traffic effects... Took these in Vienna over Christmas, from my hotel room window. The camera was wedged atop my laptop bag for, er, stability. ISO100 (as low as the 300D will do), F22, 30s shutter speed. I really needed a longer exposure to get more traffic in, but F22 was it and I couldn't be bothered to play with exposure compensation (if, indeed, that would have helped).

Hanyway, my modest efforts:-

I was going to say I recognise that! That's the city gardeners house / office. I live about 5 minutes away from there.

Good photo though

Cool, love them all! The Elvis one is cool, as is the Wynn one.

We stayed at the Golden Nugget first time and bigged it up in the Belaggio 2nd time round.

Can't wait to get back over there again!!
