Does anyone have any experience of using any particular cover for the Elise?

Mine needs to kept outside, so needs to not scratch the car in the event that a bit of wind moves it about, but it also has to be waterproof. I'd also like one that you can secure to the car, to prevent people from 'having a look' at what is underneath.

Ideas on stockists and cost would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Though not for my elise, I bought a car cover from Classic Additions (wbesite easy to find via google) and they were FANTASTIC.

I bought a custom made indoor cover for my Esocrt Cosworth (with logo, piping, colour choice the works) and, I stress, they company and product were brilliant. They were not, however, cheap (I think I paid £300 for the cover).

They did do lots of generic covers (i.e. small medium large rather than car specific) aswell, and also outside etc, so give them a call they are very helpful.

I've never used an outside cover, but what I would be scared of is putting anything (whether it's a good cover or not) on a car that is not 100% clean (i.e. literally freshly chamoised).

How do you want to use it? I mean...everyday when you get home from work, or extended periods (1...2...3 weeks) when car's not being used?

sometimes it would be thrown on after a run, but generally, as the car is a toy, I would probably wash it down and let it dry before I put it on. Car only generally used at weekends either for pleasure drives or for going to visit people. Don't use it for the daily commute

yeah, that's exactly how I used my Escort. So long as it's clean before I put the cover on it (if it's dirty, just don't put cover on and wash it next day or something then put cover on).

Let me say, there is nothing more satisfying than pulling back a cover to reveal a beautifully clena car all shiny and ready for you to blast down your favourite B-road

Give classic additions a call and explian what you're after - their prices went from about £50 to £300+ so they will def have something to suit

to be honest, the main reason is to avoid a passing chav from deciding to scratch the car, it has sat out in the rain for 2 years without any real harm (though the paint has bubbled a little bit in places, which is annoying)

I bought the Lotus one from Bell&Colvill, cost about £100, but I never use it. Car stays in the garage now.

Here's the link:
