hi guys,
any idea how much original tvr dampers are? my rears have gone so i might as well upgrade all of them.alternatively, has anyone gone aftermarket? its only for road use.dont want anything too hard/stiff for the road. tried searching past threads but nothing on standard set ups.also, would you suggest changing springs too?

much obliged,
danos

If you fit aftermarket dampers you will quite likely need to change the springs too, because the physical size of the springs has to be right for the dampers. Springs are relatively cheap though. I suggest you give AbsolutelyShocks a call, they specialise in TVRs and seem to be pretty good on price.

If you want to go budget, I may be selling my standard bilstien dampers off my car [once I've made my mind up on upgrade] which has just done 7K miles only. Just a thought.

Nah, I'm being a good boy and not wading in this time, unlike a recent thread on the Griff forum, where I made one school boy error and they got shot down by Joo and Peter for the rest of the afternoon. If you gave me popcorn I'd only start throwing it at people.

We didn't shoot you down Iain .. we stuck a flare up your arse, lit it then stood back, pointed excitedly and watched the fireworks

Tis okies Iain I'm surprised you didn't put your money where your mouth is (so to speak) and set up your own race car though

I am doing [putting my money where my mouth] that's why I'm asking to Steve (Guglielmi) do it. As always "Do it once do it properly".

I've tinkered with FS cars at uni, but the 'testing' mostly consisted of does it run?...yes, does it stop?...sort of, does it turn left and right?....yes, right When does the SU open?

In due course I will be setting cars up with the experience that is at my disposal Steve, Dave etc etc I'd be a fool not to take advantage of it. I know my limitations and at the moment top notch car setup is one of them, Gerrards would seem to be another!

Iain

thanks for the info guys and the offer of the original bilsteins sounds tempting. however, after speaking to derek at absolutely shocks, have decided to go with his gaz kit. very well priced too.

Januarys Sprint mag (TVRCC) stated that the next issue would have an offer from Gaz shocks? or something along those lines. Thinking about buying a set for my Chim soon.
