So how many fixes are on your To-Do list?

Following on from various posts on how to fix things, I was just wondering if I was abnormal in my list of fixes to be done. So far, I have:

1) Upgrade wiring to headlights
2) Fix hot air supply and drafts
3) Lubricate window motor and clean connections/re-align
4) Replace duff speedo light
5) Adjust boot release mechanism to release more easily
6) Fit radio aerial upgrade
7) Re-glue rear window demister connector

Upgrades, of course, would be a whole new shopping list!

Very similar list:

1) Upgrade to HID driving lights, leaving full beam as standard
2) fix cold air drafts driver side; I sat draft - more wind like.
3) Lubricate window motor and clean connections/re-align
4) Replace dash lights with High intensity blue LED's
5) Adjust boot release mechanism to release more easily (same)
6) Replace window button and LED's around window switches to BLUE LED's
7) Re-glue rear window demister connector (seems to be a common prob) mine looks as if it was attempted before.
8) t-cut out bumper scrape someone kindly left on the front.
9) Re-trim entire interior.
10) Illuminated button switches on steering wheel.
11) Act induction.
12) paint callipers

the missis is not gonna be happy - i need a garage to do all this in!
anyone have one for a little while?

1. Fix nearside Air intake box (its comming apart at the seams)
2. locate strange whine from engine (hopefully caused by 1 above)
3. Fix slow drivers window
4. Sort out radio aerial
5. Paint wheels

i will ask around a few friends who live in big houses whether we could use for a few days. i need the warmth, for painting plus like to do most work in the evening.

I know someone with a massive depot in Brentwood where they service trucks and buses. It's f'ing cold though. Would be amusing having 5 or more Cerbs there being worked on at the same time. Could maybe rent it for a few beer tokens for the day.

I need to clean up the interior a bit.
Re-solder the heated rear thingy (Snap!)
Give it a good clean.

Don't think so, we're all too poor to own big property. Seem to have spent all the dosh on cars...

Just keep the list down to the 10 primary items:

1) Still try and get her registered over here !
2) Find and fix the heater fault (Already sealed up the cold air vents).
3) Didn't realise the rear demister could be fixed (Thanks chaps).
4) Glue the roof headlining at the pasenger rear.
5) Improve (?!) the access panel design to the front lights.
6) Clean and polish everything alloy under the bonnet.
7) Source, buy and fix afterburners.
8) Design, buy and build a better system of column stalks.
9) Rebuild the door-side kidney-bolster on driver's seat.
10)Replace clock with oil pressure guage.
11)....ops, sorry !

Too many to list. The to do list on a Cerbera is never ending and as you go through it other things have to be added on the bottom of the list. In retrospect its a bit weird that when you have all the time to do these kinds of things (ie when you retire) people forget that they ever wanted a Cerb, buy a honda civic, drive to the park in a numpty hat and throw bread at ducks. Oh well thats life !!!

You guys seem to have a few of mine on your list, shall i bring the car round?

Of course the BLUE cars seem to have a few in common (and it is the best colour of course)

1) Upgrade (that should read install..the current ones are that bad!) wiring and front headlamp bulbs
2) Lubricate window motor and clean connections/re-align (might upgrade, err i mean fix?!)
3) Strip, Prep and protect Chassis
4) Stainless steel exhaust (old one on its way - so thats not really an upgrade?!)
5) Suspension bushes replaced all round
6) Hard wire accumate
7) Clean up drivers door opening solenoid / door button - seems to stick
8) Replace dash lights with High intensity blue LED's (or blue bulbs)
9) Replace window button and LED's around window switches to BLUE LED's
10) Re-glue rear window demister connector (actually did this one yesterday - ask me tomorrow if it worked!)
11) (Blue!) Illuminated button switches on steering wheel.
12) Fix water leaks
13) Seal up rear window by carbon strip

PS NONE of these are upgrades, they are maintenance pure and simple, ok
I have been told by the boss maintenance only...hmmm, yes miss

a)Really wanted to do the chassis with the body off but looking at timing I'm not going to have a chance really.

I have just done the following:

New disks all round
New Pads all round
Clean, POR15 and waxoyl chassis
Fit Leven pedals, including adjustable throttle arm (Christmas present)
Modify bonnet catch so bonnet does not flap about

I am about to:

Re-wire headlights so I can see where I am going (New power feed via relays direct to battery)
Fit lower wattage bulb to main beam warning light on dash... Ironically, the headlamps are not up to much, but the dash light that tells me they are on is so bright that I have had to stick some tape over it!
Fit Gear lever surround I got for Christmas
Replace damaged gear lever gaitor.
Install ACT stainless "swans neck" coolant pipe set
re-install rear bake pads to stop them rattling!
Fit additional cooling fan (only have one as no air-con) and fit fan over-ride switch
Replace assorted visible rusty bolts with stainless steel versions
Deal with suspect wiring to after burner conversion
And probably some other stuff...

Jon, what was your experience with the POR15 - Is it a significant improvement over hammerite?

some photos of your gear surround would be nice too...

POR 15 was no different to Hammerite in terms of application. Thorough preparation, scraping, de-greasing being equally necessary in either case. As for long term performance, I do not know, as the car has only been out twice since I did it. Most people rave about it here though, so for the minimal extra cost you may as well do it. Only thing is you have to mail order, whereas Hammerite is available everywhere. The only thing is POR15 breaks down in UV light, so you are meant to overcoat it with another paint, or protect it from the light. As the Chassis is underneath the car, and I put a coat of Waxoyl over, I hope this is sufficient. In the waxoyl front, I used the normat spray on stull on most of the chassis, but went for the heavy duty brush on "under body seal" on the outriggers, should give me better stone ship protection, I hope.

A picture of the gear lever surround would be a little un-inspiring at the moment as it is in a bag! The gaitor round the gear lever is in a poor condition, so I am waiting to get a new one of these before fitting the surround (the gaitor is fixed to the surround during the insall) I have helped fit another one of these surrounds to another Cerb, though and it looks very good when done.
