It was bound to happen sooner or later, had the cerb (97 4.2) for 5 months now & had many miles & hours of pure joy.
Went to it today, drivers door wouldn't open but passengers did, got in & as usual pressed the starter button. Suddenly hazard lights are going off & wipers are going full speed with washers on none of which would turn off! Car proceeded to start up fine but with hazards, wipers & washers still going, & drivers door still not working.
Any ideas? Where do I start?
Car was fine last monday, since it's sat in the garage as usual without the alarm on & the drivers window lowered.
I suppose at least my wipers & washers are working!

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few seconds. It might reset everything.

Pete, sounds very similar to something that happened to me back in October www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=6&t=213896 except for the non opening door.

Thought I was in for a cerb meltdown, luckily turned out to be 3 or 4 fuses blowing at the same time. Maybe a fuse check should be your first action?

Good luck

Pete, I agree with Kojak - had a similar problem about 4 months ago. Disconnected the little black box in the boot that controls the doors/windows and plugged back in after 1 minute or so. Was fine again.
I guess however, this "fix" only applies if your battery is reasonably charged. Flat battery in the Cerb and doors/windows/..etc. start playing up badly.

I would not disconnect the battery as this may require you to re-program the alarm

Cheers,
Pete

Water has probably got in somewhere and caused a short. Happens all the time in Cerbs. Wait for the summer and it'll be fine...

Yep, disconnect the boxes in the boot for 10 seconds, re-connect and all should be well.

Had it happen a number of times before getting an accumate - even had to drive back down themotorway for a few miles with the hazards flashing, lights on the blink as I couldn't stop the car to disconnect them as I knew there wasn't enough go in the battery to start it!

Its a cerbera thing!

Nick, I checked out your previous post, & guess what I fitted into the car at the weekend, yeh you guessed it, a cheap cig lighter probably bought of ebay & given to me for Xmas! Thats my brother of my xmas list next year.
Anyway, thought I'd check out the fuses etc, but you know what I'm gonna tell you next, yeh the boot wont open!

Guess I'll look at it tomorrow eve.

Never for one minute thought a cig lighter could do this kind of damage!

Seems to me that the electrics on cerbs are not to clever. Can they be replaced by better quality items as things break down or are you stuck with what you got?

This cars' really starting to pee me off now.
Fuses 7 & 13 both blown & replaced, done the pulling wires out of doors/windows box & put them back in. Both windows have dropped down & I have nothing at all anywhere!
No ignition, no windows, no doors etc theres not a switch on the car that works anything working!
Only sign of life is the dam alarm everytime I open the door with the pull lever! oh and the doors/windows box is kinda buzzing'
Any ideas would be welcome, PLEASE.
Cheers lads.
