AS In title I have tried searching but can only seem to find details regarding babies in car seats!

What I would like to know is how practical is it to get a 7yr old and a tall 11yr old in the back of a cerb. My reason for asking is that A new (used)car needs to be purchased in the next few months and unfortunately I am not winning the 2v4 seat argument with the mrs (sad i know). A cerb would put a smile on my face and keep her happy (ish!!!)

Any info would be greatly appreciated

IMHO it's not practical for anything other than short trips. Essentially they have to sit with one leg either side of the front seat.

I'm sure you'll get someone along saying that they had Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hulk Hogan in the back of theirs, and still had room for a giraffe, though

I have 2 girls - a 10 year old & 13 year old - the 10 year old can still fit into the back OK, but the 13 year old can't for any distance really - I usually only take them 1 in the front & 1 in the back now & leave 'her indoors' at home !! Not sure this is what you want to hear, but hope it helps.

I reckon I've only got another year or so before my 3y.o. gets too big to sit behind me (his elder brother is on the other side). I am 6'3" though...

I would have thought that it would be very uncomfortable for an 11y.o. by virtue of the width, let alone the height.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Re width are they that narrow ie can an adult sit in them or is this a complete no no. Ive read a few people saying they put the mrs in the back seat my wife is slim but is still wider than my 11yr old son who in all honesty is a long streak of p*ss!

Go to a dealer and try (or ask a friendly owner?)
I have a 6yr old and a biggish 4 yr old. The 6 yr old is behind passenger seat. the 4 yr old is now starting to struggle in the seat behind me. I dot take the family out for more than say 1 hr in the car normally anyway so not normally an issue.

Well, in my 3 years of ownership, my daughter, now 11 and no shorty, has never complained
of being cramped in the back seats, she loves the Cerb.

We also used to travel with my 5ft 8 brother in the other rear seat as well and while he
was cramped, he's a Griff owner, so was not about to moan either.

It's not ideal, but even up against an Audi TT for space, it's a whole lot better!

We've got an 8 year old, 7, 5 and 4 year old. I'm 5'10" and any of them can get in fine behind me.

When I picked the car up one mate in the passenger seat pretty much all the way forward and a 6 foot copper (off duty) in the back behind him. He sat kind of sideways for 2 hours and didn't complain once! Mind you, he did get a go behind the wheel for 20 minutes and kept saying, "I can't believe how quick it is."

Thanks for all the replies, It actually looks more promising than i thought. We have a mundano for long family trips so it will be short trips no longer than an hour. Does anyone know a friendly indie around the Chelmsford Essex area I could have a nose around?

From the info gleened it seems the problem is leg room rather than headroom so as you say try it.

The Previous owner of my car had it serviced at Castle TVR near Stanstead. I haven't dealt with them yet but I was told that they are very helpful.

We are going to visit relatives in Cumbria next month I will be taking the Cerb, the rest will be in Dawn's car.

I have 13 & 11 year olds, the 13 just getting too big for long trips, but obviously it's down to size and how much they will put up with it, versus cool factor, etc. Contact yellow peril as she is the Mid Essex TVRCC RO and should be able to put you in touch with a local owner for a 'sit-in-and-try' as I went through the same questions when I bought. I'm in suffolk so could possibly arrange a meet if other enquiries fail. The Essex meet is the second Sunday in the month and there is usually one there so give her a shout if you can wait that long.

Hey Raf, its all your fault i'm on here!

No Seriously I looked into these about a year or so ago and came to the conclusion that a 3 mile drive to work would kill the car. I am in the very near future going to have a longer drive which will allow the car to warm up!
Hence my renewed interest. I'm not going to post a what car thread on general gassing but am really confused as to what to get next (aside from her indoors comments!) and the shortlist has no real logic to it either. Its coming down to cerb,porsche 993 or lotus elise and keep the saab. AAAARRRRGGGGHHH
