Hiya
Austec use Valvoline 10w/40 !! That is what they used on my Chim and what I bought for future top ups. Seems to work fine. Not sure if they use the same stuff on AJP8/Speed 6??

Why not give them a call to be sure - Valvoline do many types of oil some even with the same grade different name & purpose.

The do a 20/50 racing grade that is great for RV8's..

Good call Rev! Very true.
Mine is apparently a 'synthetic blend', like the idea of the 20/50 though!!

As Valvoline isn't so readily available, Austec recommended I use Castrol Magnatec GTX 10w/40.

I'd try and use something better-come to that i do!Use something like Mobil1 motorsport 15/50,silkolene pro'r' 15/50 motul 3000v 15/50 or silkolene pro's' 10/50.All these are what Opie recommends for these engines, and he knows his stuff.

I use Pro S for my Cerb, but to I used Magnatec 10W40 on my previous Chimaera (with oil changes every 3k) and to my knowledge it's still on the original cam after more than 70k. I'm sure the Valvoline is fine.

My 500 has always used Mobil 1 but on the next service I am going to switch to either Castrol or Valvoline, after speaking to many people on the TVR scene it seems the Mobil is a bit thin for the Rover powerplant.

I hope the Valvoline 10w/40 works better on TVRs than it does on our 300zx. Hot engine = no oil pressure!

The stuff really is black water, worse tham Mobil 1 IMHO. Can't wait to replace it with something useful, say Castrol Edge 10W60 (replacement for Castrol RS I think).

You can mix synthetic oil so I wouldn't worry too much about putting something else in.

I use Shell Helix 10/40 in mine - no problems at all.

I have always used the Castrol Formula RS 10W-60, works a treat and never uses any.
Not so easy to find today, most places stock the thinner Formula RS 0W-40 version.

That's a fine oil nuggs - Dave Batty swears by it.

I get my Valvoline from "Moto's" in Kenley (A22) nr Purley.
