Creaky suspension

Hi,

My suspension has become more and more creaky as time goes on.......the front shocks are relatively new (considering mileage) and the back ones are adjustable. I know this may be a complete 'novice' question but I must say that I am just that! It will be going in soon for bits and pieces but I'm jst wondering what the situation is with the shocks to make them creak?

The shell often moves on the chassis, this could be what you're hearing?

My 350 used to creak at the front sometimes. It turned out to be the roll bar bushes/joints. Quick squirt with wd40.... back to peace & quiet

My chimaera chassis creaks at the moment as well, it seems to be when it is particularly cold and everything is tight. Doesn't seem to be anything to worry about although a little unsettling when i first heard it.

On wedges it could be useful to check the front springs. I had this type of noise, and one front spring was broken.... At that time I was into slow road speed(just had the TVR for a couple of weeks), so had no scary moments or problems on the road. Had to drive a few weeks with the broken spring as well, during the time when the replacements were on order! Fitted nice heavy duty springs. I could hear the noise especially at slow speeds, close to full lock and then go over a speed bump or something like that.

Spray all the bushes with WD40 , simple but worked on the two Wedges I had

Can also be a symptom of a cracked chassis or wishbone....

I've also got a weird suspension sqeak on mine at the front. Strange it only seems noticeable once its been running a while.

Could be any of the above, or possibly the spings squeaking in the cups. I have cured the latter before by using motorcycle chain lube. This sprays on like WD40 and penetrates well, then the solvent evaporates and leaves nice sticky grease in your crevices!
Be careful not to spray bushes or rubber parts with it though as I'm not sure it is very rubber friendly.

Why is it you always come out with such doomed assessments.....?
