Like many people I now do all my banking (that's banking..) online.

However downloading statments, pasting them into excel and catagorising each transaction is frankly becoming a bit of an arse.

Microsoft Money and Quicken seem to be the big names but before I part with my hard earned I thought I'd see if anyone can offer advice on which one is best, or indeed whether there are other (freeware?) solutions available.

Thanks in anticipation

I used Quicken many years ago and it was very good and MS Money was considered to be, err, less so.

I have no idea what the state of play is these days though.

I have also used Quicken for about 5 or 6 years, pretty good.

I understand Quicken won't support the UK as of the end of 2005. Have a look at their website - I read it there a while ago. Not enough UK demand, I seem to remember!

Hence I'm now on MS Money.

Egg money is great for viewing ALL of your accounts online... if only they did an app that allowed you to collate your statements from them all.

Do any of these finance programs not interface directly with accounts now?

Just as an aside, but PC World (of all places) currently have Microsoft Money 2005 for £12.49 inc VAT.
At that price you may as well buy a copy and see if it fits your needs.
