The Police dont line cerbs - its official!

Had a bad day today - wish I hadnt got out of bed.
Anyway , on way home from work (hoping bad day was over), driving on a dual carriage way (A31 Hogs Back). 7.45pm. Weather is ok. 60 mph speed limit. Police car in outside lane in front overtaking 2 cars. He is doing about 58mph. When he pulls into inside lane I creep past at 60/61 mph. As I just get past him he swerves sharply from inside lane to outside lane (lane 2) right behind me inches from my boot. he then flashes me, I pull into lane 1 and he overtakes and then pulls in front of me reasonably sharply. He makes no effort to pull me over albeit within 50 metres I pull off to the A3.
What was that about!!! I guess it was partly the car. Even if I had done wrong (not sure what it was though) why didnt he just flipping pull me over properly! Aggghhhh!

Sounds like he was trying to get you to take the bait, get mad and hoot at him or speed a little to get out the way so he could stop you. Jealousy.

Not good, hopefully wasn't a traffic officer as I'd like to hope (having spoken to a few of them) that they are better trained and more retional.

What sort of car was he driving?

Sounds like an idiot. Unfortunately there are a few. He was obviously in one of those, "I'm driving at the speed limit so if anyone comes past me they are going to have it." The fact that his speedo's not callibrated and yours isn't either, there is always going to be a slight discrepency. The reason he didn't stop you - Becuae he knew he couldn't prove you were speeding.

Had one of those a couple of weekends back whilst blatting up the A32 and across the A272 on me lonesome.
Initially noticed it was a plod stuck behind a queue of traffic (about 3 cars) doodling along the NSL sections. I swiftly overtook him and the 3 others in a one'r, as you do when you are ona blat. He then proceeded, indignantly I assume, to overtake the 3 now and only just by my reckoning . He then stuck to my bumper for the next 3 miles or so, taking some of the NSL bends at my speed, 60.1mph, and only just making it tbh. I overtook a few other cars at 60.2mph, again he followed blindly and given the performance of his motor, only just. 'twas a festa van I think, possibily a dog carrier.
I slowed and did a u turn later on at a small junction, waving as I went . He almost looked pissed off . The speeds involved were perfectly legal (surprisingly!). However the speeds were well within the capabilities of my car and conditios, but I would say without doubt on the edge of his.. Perhaps it would have been a notch on his trunction, sorry to disapoint ............................t*sser

Ah ye olde little angry man syndrome. Tripps is right, give him a serving back with an official complaint. That sort of behaviour has no place on the roads, doubly so for the old bill.

Could have been some geek delivering it.

I had one recently, I was making progress on the way back from Blackpool & it was dark. I overtook an ambulance (Vauxhall Astra Estate) & then pulled up behind a car in the third lane. I noticed a flash in my rear view mirror & ignored it, then the blue lights came on, so I moved to the middle lane & lowered my speed. His blue lights went off & his speed dropped considerably & he either went to the hard shoulder or continued in the n/s lane at a very low speed.

Can't be sure if it was the Ambulance I overtook or if it was the BIB.

Either way, I still got past that car that was holding me up

It is quite common for non-officers to deliver vehicles around the place, so it is quite possible that it wasn't even a BiB. Did you see the uniform/cap/whatever?

Im assuming you can contact the BiB, state date, road, time and description of the vehicle and ask them to check who was driving it. There cant be that many vans about in any given area?

Mine is being pulled for 125 and being banned for a year !

A year ban for 125mph seems a bit extreme. Had you accumulated other speeding tokens before-hand?
