I know a number of people on here use Privilege. I've just got a quote from them for my Tuscan 2, fully comp, 10k miles per year, £450 excess, me and the wife, protected NCB - £473! Less than half of what the TVRCC "endorsed" insurer wanted (£960)! Even Sunninghill who are brilliant and have insured me for 3 years were £200 more.

I had to double check to make sure I'd got it right. Has anyone else found them to be miles cheaper than the rest and how do they do it?

As an added bonus Joanna Lumley answers the phone when you call!

I am with them for my T2S, cost me a litle over £500 but only 5yncb this year.

interestingly cheeper with my wife on it than off it. She has still never driven the car though

However when I get cover for a "courtesy" t350c I have to pay a little as they are a "higher group"

Still cant beleive I can insure a plastic car with that many BHP for so little

I cannot fault them, i have both Tiv`s insured by them, on the understanding that the Tuscan stays dormant in the garage while awaiting sale, when i want to "demo" or run the car i just ring them they, increase my cover, the additional fee for this?????????
nothing...nil..zilch!! So i have two TVR`s combined total of approx £45k insured for just over £450

Not bad but my renewal is £360 for a 2K Cerb 4.5 for me and the wife miles unlimited, and an expensive area. This was adrian flux who undercut priviledge by £200.

Be careful of priviledge. I was with them for five years and year on year they increased my premium to the point when I finaly looked around they were easily beaten.

Thats all very well for you Paul, but me livin in Saaaf Lundon, and not having a choice of 3 or 4 garages to choose from pays 825 sovs with em. Thats £625 premium and £120 No Claim Discount protection plus a couple of bits and bobs. Excess is only £200 though. Hmm thinks I should move to your neck of the woods.

I found Privilege well priced and offering good cover - including track days - for several years. Then they dropped the track day cover, and I dropped them - moving to Sunninghill at a similar price but with track cover too....

That's interesting (or not! )

I am looking round in anticipation of the Eurobox needing cover again from Feb.

Earlier I tried Noddys* Bank on-line. Their system cannot cope with a 2.4SE - it thinks it is an Avant and wants abuot £250 more than I paid last year

So, from reading this thread I thought I'd give Privelege a try.

It's the SAME front end! Exactly the same layout.

OK that's fine, but I kept going just in case, and "hey presto!" the Privelege actually works properly and has given me a sensible (and quite acceptable) quote of about £10 less than last years premium!

(And £40 better than "Confused" )

*Somebody shoot that bl**dy horse........

Oh anyway, sorry for the hijack, but I've diaried them for when the Tusc comes up too. Cheers for the heads up!

Yes, PRIVILEGE are the best, by far, for me also - the TVR endorsed insurance companies, advertised in Sprint are a joke, wanting silly money (from my experience)

Yep, was with them for years then for some reason Direct Line (same company) under quoted them. Quote sounds a little cheap but I'm sure you are a good boy really

I love the thread in the TVRCC Insurance forum..... You haven't been flamed yet!

But it hasn't been answered yet either.

What benefit does the car club get from having A Manning as the endorsed insurer? Members don't get a special rate as Mannings will not insure non members. And when it comes to SP6 cars (i.e. all modern TVR's) Mannings are not even in the same playing field as the competition. Privilege were half the cost quoted by Mannings for me and both Tesco and Sunninghill were 1/3 cheaper!

If the car club promotes an insurer (or any other service provider) they should ensure that the endorsed supplier offers reasonable value. Otherwise a new member could see that Mannings are recommended by the club, go with them on that recommendation and then find that they had paid twice the market rate!

I'm sure Mannings are good for older TVR's (like those driven by the committee members ). Maybe the club should have Mannings for "classics" and Sunninghill or someone for moderns.

Privilege were cheapest by miles for me last year (Chimaera, 35, max no claims, and I live in East London) but this year SwiftInsure undercut them by £150.00. Privilege's 'we will beat any other quote' promise... 'err sorry sir we can't go that low'

Just going through the annual ritual of renewing the Tuscan insurance. Interesting figures as follows:-
A. Manning (AXA) (my current insurers) £624
Tesco £464
MSM (NIG) £435
Sunninghill (Chaucer)£451

Yes - I have one foot in the grave, live in the sticks, car garaged, been a good boy etc etc so max no claims but to insure a plastic rocket like the Tuscan for 3 pints of lager a week is amazing.
No guessing who I will not be insuring with but it begs the question - why are they the club's approved and recommended insurers when they are so far off the pace?

Di - move out to the country - you know it makes sense!
